Homey Dashboards | Megathread

There have been some questions how to use Tasker app on Android to turn on the tablet display from Homey or how to control charging.
I just added two HowTo’s.

Hi @Erikvl87, I second @Tregobad in a requirement for simple but clearly visible “big” and colorful status buttons. I’ve looked at the datavista switch, but unfortunately that does not work in all cases as a logical “false” does not always mean “off”, which is default in DataVista.
Big colour coded squares or rectangles with icons and text would be ideal.
This goes for flow-buttons as well as statusses.

Hi guys,

Realized after adding my first dashboard on my 24" screen that in portrait mode I’ve got no columns but in horisontal mode there are columns.

Is there a way to get columns on portrait mode to?

I’m working on a state widget using icons, which could be useful for you. It will hopefully be available sometime soon™ in January 2025.

Keep an eye out in the DataVista topic.

I would love to see the insights charts placed like the devices in a frame with 3 columns.
Like this custom control in HA:

And as second idea: Optional display the current capability value in top left of the chart.
This way you can combine the chart for a daily overview with the current value. Would be cool for things like temperatures, energy etc.
This combination would dave a lot of space on the dashboard. instead of having big charts and a second device/variable.

Shrink the font size and object size, in your tablet configuration.
I’ve read somewhere Athom will try to add a dashboard font resizer, to be able to have the dash show more or less colums, without affecting the common tablet settings.

Aha… is there place in the homey app where I can change the sizes of the cards and texts?
Or you mean the native settings in the android settings.

Atm I’ve installed android on a raspberry pi connected to a 24” screen.

For now the native Android settings are the only way.

Top! That did the trick for now. Thanks!

Hi. I just made my first dashboard. It works as expected. But when i add a flow to my dashboard they are all greyed out and i cant do anything with it. I would like to be able to inactivate/activate directly in the dashboard. Is that possible? (im using an android tablet)

Your flow has to be manually startable

Use the “Flow is started card” or Start button (advanced flow).

Example:
Top flow: not startable
Middle flow: disabled
Lower flow: startable

I have one from them, good quality and reasonable price.

I will not quote anyone from Athom because I see they will have very tough job when returning from holidays

Still, can’t resist on making one whish - for battery widgets, would be fantastic to set a general threshold when picking app devices to shows up in the widget or have ability to exclude battery measurements when threshold is set (first widget option).

Eg. when selecting <20% option widget, I get also some devices I don’t care about (like FVE battery in winter), when selecting devices manually, I see all battery levels and that’s again not what I want to focus on…

I only have one wish. The dashboard for the web app so that you can display it in the Fully browser. This would possibly also solve the problem with the presence of users.

Does anyone have any idea on how to make a, android, tablet which Homey can lock and unlock automatically?
I don’t want the tablet/dashboard to be accessible when no-one is at home.

Thank you!

Wouldn’t you have the exact same thing when the homey app itself receives an update? Might be less frequent, but still. I guess for having it as a home dash on a tablet hanging on the wall somewhere, you’d like a way to maybe change your “Home” to be one of your custom dashboards.

Whats your usecase? It’s not possible to inactivate/activate flows from your dashboard. Depending on your usecase it is possible to make a toggle that alters a (advance) flow in homey and add it to your dashboard.

E.g. I use it for when our baby is sleeping and we want the doorbell to be silent during that period. I made a on/off toggle via virtual devices named “Baby sleeping”. In the advanced flow the path alters when the toggle is on or off. When it’s on the doorbell will be loud, when it’s off the doorbell is silent.

The same method can be used for switching between two (or more) paths in flows. Make a toggle and a (advanced) flow that creates a path to the automated behaviour you find suited.

On a daily basis now, my Dashboard is closed (Android) and the app reverts back to the home screen. I really hope Athom will prioritize this, because the Dashboard is more or less useless in its current state when you have a wall-mounted tablet powered on 24/7 and this happens.

(This also happens when you restart your Homey.)

I have an automation with a shelly switch on our water heater, when electricity is on the most expensive hours it is turned off. But with 2 teenangers in the house that takes long showers, you must sometimes force the heater to be on. So i wanted to be able to activate or inactive the flow easy. But the help i got was great. I made 2 new flows that i can activate on the dashboard. And the new flows activate or inactive my heater automation. “Activate heater automation” and “Inactive heater automation” and is this flow also turn the shelly switch “on”. So i managed to get what i was after.

But i would very much like to know more about how you created a “toogle”
That would be an even better solution.

Edit - Did some search and found it. Now i have a button to press to activate/inactivate. Awesome! - Thanks for the tip
