Daily usage updates not working (most of the time)

I run a Homey Pro 203 for a few weeks now and really like it. So I started building a nice dashboard last weekend, but I ran into some problems. I hope you can help met resolve these.

Problem 1: my Homewizard P1 Watermeter does not support daily usage values. I started out by calculating them by myself using variables and resetting to 0 at midnight. This did not workd as expected and someone pointed me to the Power Price app (running 2.1.4 at the moment). I created a virtual Power Price watermeter (m3), stop a session at midnight and start one again. See picture.

I now can update the session when I consume water, calculate liters from m3 and display that using a Datavista progress bar. Problem: my Homewizard display shows more water consumed than my Homey dashboard…

Problem 2: my Homewizard P1 meter showed a value for today’s electricity power consumption that also differed from my HW display, so I used the same method as for the water meter, but that is more wrong than using the actual P1 today’s usage value.

What is happening here? I quite puzzeld and out of options…

P.S. all current usage values are fine and update as expected. It is only the daily usage so far that are acting upt.

For continuous summarization of usage statistics, you might want to consider using the Power by the Hour app. Which basically does all the work for you that you are now manually trying to achieve in different flows.

See screenshots for illustration in my other post:

If you do want to use Power Price some things to try:

  • You might be using the wrong trigger for updating the session. You use a change in waterflow, but I assume you want to use a change in the metered value based in this card:

  • My experience is that it takes some time after you end/update a session before the updated values become available. I included a 1 sec delay after ending a session, before continuing with the rest of the flow that uses the total value. I am not using the update card personally, but assume the same applies.

Note that Power Price updates the session device automatically when a session runs. Only if you want to see the current total, you need to update the session. Otherwise you’ll only see them at the end.

@SunBeech, when there is waterflow, the amount also changes, just being lazy here. That Power Price takes some time to update and I need a delay I did not know. I can use a delay if needed. Using PbtH is also an option, I will do some more testing.

Thanks!

Or you could have asked for this as a feature for the Homewizard app. :upside_down_face:
On the other hand you can use Power by the Hour app that has a watermeter tracker which also adds prices.

Jeroen, would be nice if the daily water usage would be readable from the HW app, but I thought of solving this myself first so I do not need to bother the app author.

I didn’t bother since Power by the hour app does this already but I can put some effort of adding daily usage for the watermeter.

@elsinga v3.10.1 added watermeter daily usage

Enjoy.
