Connect Tuya smoke detector (zigbee) to Homey (Early 2016)

Hi,

I bought a Tuya Smoke Alarm Zigbee version (PG-S11Z) and am trying to connect it to my Homey (model 2016), without success. I am not using a Tuya gateway. What I did / tried:

  1. add device with the app ‘Tuya’ by Drenso - installed the Smart life app and tried to connect my smoke detector in the Smart life app. Installed the smart life app, add device, but it can’t be found unfortunately. Adding manually via ‘ beveiligingssensor’ - Rook alarm (Zigbee)’ , it wants to see a Tuya gateway and can’t be added to the app.

  2. add device with the app Tuya Zigbee by Johan Bendz. Unfortunately no smoke detector device supported / there to select. The smoke detector can be added as a ‘ Onbekend Zigbee apparaat’ Using this device in a flow doesn’t work - setting off the alarm with smoke does not lead to a signal to trigger the flow.

  3. Tried Tuya Cloud app by Jurgen Heine. You should add a cloud project on a Tuya site, can’t seem to do that (created account etc.)

Is there an option to add this device?

The apps from Drenso and Jurgen are for WiFi devices only. The app from Johan isn’t being maintained very well at the moment. There’s a test app available for Tuya Zigbee devices that might support your device: [APP][Pro] Universal TUYA Zigbee Device App - test

You can also buy a Tuya ZigBee/MultiMode gateway and connect it via the Tuya app by Drenso

Thx for the quick replies!

Tested the universal TUYA app - unfortunately the smoke detector isn’t supported. Tested around 5 other gas/smart smoke/CO etc. sensors, but weren’t added successfully. For now I think this device will go on as a dumb sensor in the garage.

Was looking for a smoke sensor to integrate with Homey - if there are any suggestions. love to hear them.

Like I said: you can buy a Tuya ZigBee or MultiMode gateway to integrate your smoke detector with the Tuya app (the one developed by Drenso)

I read your reply, thnx. I prefer to keep it at one hub in the house.

Best shot in that case is request for device support, by following the link shared by Robert.
But it can take a while to realise, it’s a one person operation (like many community apps).

The Tuya Zigbee app from Johann Bendz has a test version with more devices integrated. You could try that one.

I use zigbee smoke detectors from Klik-aan-Klik-uit (KlikAanKlikUit zigbee app) and a zigbee heat-alarm (for the kitchen) from Frient (frient zigbee app).

I am in contact with dlnraja, developer of the Universal TUYA Zigbee Device App and logged an issue in Github. Currently testing his fix/change, not yet resolved, but good hopes for it!

Hello. Just making a placeholder here as it seems you have similar problems like me

https://community.homey.app/t/compatible-linked-smoke-alarms-european-market/

I also want to add “any” smart smoke alarm to my Homey without having to use an extra hub. And as a bonus I want it to work as a siren (to have the possibility to trigger the alarm from Homey), but for now I have no solution to the problem

I am in contact with @dlnraja developer of the Universal TUYA Zigbee Device App, he has made changes in the app to resolve the issue, have tested them, but unfortunately for now no working situation. There is an issue during the pairing process - “Er ging iets fout bij het toevoegen van dit apparaat, probeer het nog eens”. Good hopes it can be resolved…

If so, I will report it also here @foretag
