I’m trying to pair the Sonoff ZBMINI. The socket I want to use it for only has 2 wires so I connected these to the L In en L out. My bulbs have power but the Sonoff LED is dead and is not found when I try to pair it.
Is this not the way to connect it?
Also, can somebody confirm that this Sonoff device works with both rocker switches and push button switches. I saw in a youtube video that you can change the settings by pushing the button on the Sonoff three times in a row. But that was the ZBMini Extreme, not sure if it also works for this model. Thanks!
Note that ‘no neutral wire’ devices might also need a capacitor as shown in the wiring diagrams included in the above Amazon page. This prevents random on/offs, buzzing, and flickering lights. If you don’t get one supplied with the device, I use one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09W5FF3JX
Ok, I was afraid that would be the case. When I ordered this I thought the neutral wire wouldn’t make any difference and this would be a device I could use in both situations. Too bad.
Thanks for your quick responses.
I think I might be stuck here. The lamps are controlled by a 3-way switch. I now installed the ZBMINI-L in one switch but this isn’t working as expected.
And from what I found so far only ZBMINI-L supports 3-way switches. But since I have no N-wire I cannot use that model…
Not sure if 3-way switch is the correct word, I had to look it up because my mother tongue is Dutch but maybe the translation I found is not correct :-).
My situation is one where the lights can be controlled by 2 switches in different locations in the room. Both are push buttons and either switch can turn on or off the light.
Ah okay, I understand now. Still not sure what the problem is: both the ZBMINI-L and the ZBMINI-L2 support this sort of setup, AFAIK (the L2 does for sure, I use it myself).
And did this require any additional setup or did you just add the ZBMINI-L2 to both switches?
Maybe the problem is that I so far only added it to one of the switches.
Behavior I see now is that one push turns the lights on, 2nd push does nothing, 3rd push turns them off. 4th nothing, 5th on, and so on…
The ZBMINI-L2 also seems to control the other switch as the lights (WiFi Bulbs) are completely cut off from power at times (showed unavailable in Homey sometimes when I was testing this).
Actually I have three switches controlling the device, so it was all a bit confusing, but in the end it worked. No additional configuration required.
I found an image on how to hook up two switches here, perhaps that’s useful for you.
That’s going to be a problem anyway, because you can’t switch smart bulbs with a setup like this: the ZBMINI’s will physically switch the power to the output live wire, and smart bulbs need to be powered on all the time.
Thanks. I suppose the wiring can remain as it is as these ZBMINI switches should work as regular switches. I will try to add a ZBMINI to the other switch and see what that does.

OK, this was a case of progressive insight. I first replaced the bulbs with smart bulbs and setup some automations in Homey. Then I noticed that it would be easy if we could still use the regular switch to control them manually instead of using our smartphones. But once the ZBMINI’s work I can just change the flows in Homey to the ZBMINI and replace the bulbs. The result will be the same.
