Can anyone please help me with connecting my Homey to Google Home? I have tried everything but it just won’t connect.
When I try to add it it just hangs and after a while it says it can’t connect. It shows up in linked devices but not in Google Home. If I try to add it again nothing happens. I have tried deleting it from linked devices but the same thing happens.
I have tried adding it from different devices and on different networks or on mobile. I have tried deleting the Google Home app and reinstalling it and the same thing happens.
I would really appreciate any help. I am on Android and have a 2026 Homey Pro Smart Hub. I’m using a Samsung Z Fold 7 and a OnePlus Tablet.
Are you sure you selected the right Homey? You might have a Homey Cloud instance (accidentally) created in your account, if you selected that, nothing shows up in Google Home
Thank you for the reply. I have had a look through that thread but unfortunately it doesn’t really cover the issue I am having. At the beginning the OP has a similar issue but he was able to fix it but doesn’t really state how.
I have tried doing it on mobile data, different devices, different networks and I keep getting the error “Could not reach Homey. Please try again.” and then subsequent attempts do nothing until I delete the linked app and try again but again, I just get the same hang and then error message.
It’s just a hunch, but I think when you open the Homey app using your mobile data connection (wifi turned off), it forces Homey to connect to Athom cloud. This might increase the chance for Google to reach your Homey when you start the linking process.
Make sure any network influencing tool is disabled (AdGuard, VPN, PiHole etc etc) during the process.
That’s how the mobile app works, not Google Home. Google Home opens login page for Homey upon selecting the Homey service in the list. Then, the user logs in (login happens fully on Athom’s servers) and gets redirected back to Google with a “code”. Google’s servers then exchange this code for an access token with Athom’s server and all communication with Homey runs via the cloud. There is no local communication, it’s probably just rate limits from Google or Athom that’s causing your IP to be rate limited somehow and that’s why switching connections works. It has nothing to do with Homey’s local connection, that is not used by Google Home.
