August smart lock pro 3rd Gen

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all doing great!

I live in Finland and am looking for a smart lock for my door. After some research, it seems like the August Smart Lock Pro (3rd Gen) might be the best fit. However, before placing an order (and waiting quite a while for it to arrive), I wanted to check with you all to make sure it’s the right choice.

Here are a few questions I’d love your input on:

  • Is the August Smart Lock Pro compatible with Homey Pro and its Flow system?
  • Will I need a separate hub for it to work?
  • Does the lock function well in the EU ?

If anyone has experience with this lock or similar setups, I’d really appreciate your advice. I just want to be sure it’s worth the wait and avoid any disappointment!

there are two Apps connecting August locks with the Homey Pro.
Homey Pro Apps for August locks
There you can contact the developer to ask your questions.
As both apps are connected via cloud, I guess you will need a hub. But the developer could tell you more details.

Since you are in Finland, you might want to look at smart locks supported by Yale Home App for Homey | Homey

That does need the Yale Home hub for each lock.

Thanks for your input! Could you elaborate on why you recommended Yale, particularly since I’m in Finland? Is there a specific reason Yale locks might be better suited for this region?

Also, just to clarify, I only plan to use one smart lock for my front door. Could you share why you’d choose a Yale product over the August Smart Lock in this case? Is it about compatibility, reliability, doors shape, or something else?

Hi Kari,
as both brands, August and Yale are belonging to Fortune Brands Innovations, and even the August App is provided by Yale Access, I guess that the August locks are compatible with the Yale Home App and the Yale Home Hub.
I am not sure, but it really looks as if. But even that does not explain the link to Finland.

No unfortunately not.
I do not use any locks. I just wanted to help how you could find the information by yourself and then I tried to solve the misunderstanding between @OH2TH and you.
Why don’t you try to contact the developers of both Apps?

I was just thinking through availability of the devices for the Finnish market. I have Yale Doorman (V2N) which works with Yale Home. Likewise Yale Linus locks are compatible with the app.

The apps are ment either for European market (Yale Home) and US market (Yale Access and August). August app may though work for the European market also, this should be check from the developer.
