Hey, is anyone already using the new Aqara FP400 sensor with Homey? Apparently, you need a hub to use zones. Is there any news on whether the sensor will be supported natively by the official app?

I have it at home already and you can configure it without using an aqara hub. So either you first use the Aqara Home app to directly connect to the sensor from your phone and configure the zones and then share it to Homey. Or you connect first to Homey and share it via a new Matter code to the Aqara Home app and then configure it. But when you add Zones you need to interview and sync the device attributes from the Homey developer page.
But all that said I’m currently experiencing two separate issues. On iOS i can’t get a stable connection to the Sensor for configuration and on Android I can’t complete the setup guide, but I can back out and do all other configurations without a problem (including setting up zones).
I’m in contact wirh Aqara support about this, but I haven’t found other people with those issues yet.
As for the Homey app, really doesn’t matter if they support it. It is just exposed as one sensor with multiple presence capabilities (per zone) via Matter. And zone setup is too complex to ever happen anywhere besides the Aqara Home app on your phone either way.
It matters (
) if you want to connect and control the device in Zigbee mode instead of Matter mode. But indeed, when connecting using Matter, no app is needed.
Nice to hear, but also bit strange because Aqara indeed said you need a Aqara hub for that.
question: what do you recommend? first to homey and that share it to aqara?
other question: do you have all the options? like AI learning and the other settings you can change?
What’s more, FP400 can be added and configured in the Aqara Home app without an Aqara hub by using an existing third-party Thread Border Router***.
And also on the package they mention requires an Aqara hub OR a thread network.
I think their strong recommendation is to configure it in the app first. But I have found it not to make any difference.
And yes all the options are available via the app as far as I can see. The only thing I’m having troubles due to the broken initial setup guide, is that I can’t set the corner/wall position currently as this is the only thing there is no setting for outside the setup guide. So I will report back once that is figured out with their support.

you can make zone’s in the aqara app and see them in the homey app as different zone’s?
They show up within the same device as multiple different sensors in homey.

There is this great writeup in the Aqara forum on how to use it with 3rd party Matter controllers.
As for the issues I was having, it turns out if you don’t angle your sensor pretty far down it will refuse to complete the setup without giving you any indication that this is the reason. But once I did change the installation angle I was able to complete my setup.
One thing that currently is still not ideal is that Homey does only give you “WHEN the Presence Alarm turned on for X seconds” for all zones, so you can’t easily distinguish them and you also can’t set this below 1 second. But according to Slack this will be fixed in a Homey update “soonish”.

If you are looking for a way to determine whether someone is in bed to set the sleep state in Homey, consider using a car seat occupancy sensor (+/- $5-10 on AliExpress) connected to an Aqara T1 water leak sensor. It has screws on the bottom to which you can connect the occupancy sensor cables.
The water sensor acts as a binary (Zigbee) sensor. Place the occupancy sensor under the sheets midway on the mattress. Use a flow to set the sleep state based on the water sensor’s alarm and fine-tune it (e.g. only set to sleep after 21:00 o’clock).
Is zone name transfer working for others? If so, what FP400 firmware are you using? I’m trying to move from a FP2 (using HomeKit Controller) to the new FP400.
I do still have the FP400 on the shipped FW v1.1.8.2 because I want to see when Homey makes the FW update available, and if it makes a difference for updating FW updates whether a device is paired with Homey 1st or a 3rd party hub 1st, but I did see in the Aqara app that v1.1.9.6 is showing available even though Homey does not offer the update.
Does 1.1.9.6 possible fix zone name transfer?
First try:
1). Added FP400 to Homey as a Matter over Thread device
2). Paired to Aqara M3 with shared Matter device code
3). Created floor plan and detection zones
4). Ran Transfer Zone Names from Aqara app.
Only generic named detection zones in Homey
Second try (after removing from Aqara and Homey)
1). Added FP400 to Aqara M3 as a Matter over Thread device
2). Paired to Homey with shared Matter code
3). Again, created floor plan and detection zones
4). Ran Transfer Zone Names from Aqara app
5). After seeing staeff post above, tried Interview/Update Device from Homey Developers page.
Still only got generic named detection zones in Homey

Aqara does not expose the zone names at all via Matter as far as I can see from the raw Matter interview data. And their zone name sync is only supported for HomeKit (most likely not via a default Matter mechanism).
Hopefully, they’ll come up with a solution soon for the flows trigger: when motion is detected by the sensors.
It would also be nice if in Homey, you could specify which zone it is directly on the device itself.
With the FP2 via HomeKit, the flows and the text displayed on the device were much better, at least.
please one question…i receive today the FP400, the way how to integrate them is clear, but i have doubt that when i make first the integration to Aqara Hub G5 Pro Cam (also a Border Router) that the FP400 is not in my main Homey Thread-Matter network…aim carefully because i had in the past different problems with the Thread-Matter System of Homey, currently after many changes in my own setup the Thread.Matter connection is stable and i I don’t want to get into trouble again.
When i go the opposite way first to Homey and then to Aqara then i have to do the hint from @staeff
Well…the problem is i never did this before, is therefore anywhere a description available and is this in the future always necessary after any changes on aqara side?
