[APP] Smart heating – experiences and implementation examples?

Hi all,

I am currently testing the Smart heating app (com.chhv.smartheating) and I am very interested in hearing from people who are already using it in a real heating setup.

The app looks very promising, especially because of the predictive preheating, zone control, weather input and the generic Command changed output.

I would particularly like to know how others have implemented it in practice:

  • What type of heating system are you controlling with Smart heating?
  • Do you use radiators, underfloor heating, heat pump / air conditioning, or a combination?
  • How do you use the schedules? Are the scheduled times interpreted as the time at which the desired temperature should be reached?
  • How well does the predictive preheating work in practice?
  • Does the app adapt sufficiently to different outdoor temperatures and changing weather?
  • How do you process the Command changed output in your Flows?
  • Which tags do you mainly use: Call for heat, Recommended target, Recommended mode, Output strategy, Minimum on/off until, etc.?
  • Do you let Smart heating control the actual heating device directly through Flows, or do you have an additional layer that selects the heat source?
  • How reliable has the app been over a longer period?
  • Any issues with Homey load, restarts, missed commands or fallback behaviour?
  • Are there things you would configure differently after using the app for a while?

In my case I am considering using it with Honeywell Evohome radiators, Mitsubishi air conditioning and separate underfloor heating, while letting Smart heating determine the heat demand and using Homey Flows to select the actual heat source.

I would be very interested to see examples of real implementations or Advanced Flows.
