App request Dreo Smart Porducts

Please add Heater Cat.. My Heater is a Dreo Atom One S.
Autumn and Winter are coming…

I logged this with Dreo, as well as Dehumidifier and fans like PolyFan 513S… and had zero response. Seriously starting to doubt my investment in their ecosystem. Not a single update to their Homey app since it was released months ago, and it supports hardly any of their products. Disappointing and frustrating beyond belief.

I logged a problem with the Dreo mobile app with their support recently. When they got back to me with a new version of the mobile app that fixed that problem, I asked them about their Homey app and adding support for more of their devices. I also suggested they have an appropriate member(s) of their staff sign up to this forum and join the discussion on their app and products. They said they would take it under consideration, but gave no update on the app.

They also recently created a Dreo Home Official Group, with one of the first posts being “Ask Dreo anything” so I commented asking about the Homey app… my comment question still hasn’t been approved or answered.

I have 10 Dreo products around my home… and to sign up for the group it asks you what products of theirs you own, so I listed them all. But no response still to my question.

Please sort it out Dreo… I like your products, but your support does seem to be rather lacking.

Please everyone, join their facebook group and make yourselves heard!

I was hopeful that their winter product lineup launch would also see an update to the official app with more devices supported… but alas not.

Please, everyone who has Dreo devices, go to the app page and click the Suggestion button and make yourselves heard. Comment on their Facebook page or group, or send them an email. We need to let them know that we want this app to be better, and to support more devices.

Thank you kindly.

done. I don’t use Facebook, so, no joy there. But, I did click the Suggest button to ask for more logic cards, more products, old and new.

Thank you good sir… every little helps as they say :+1:t3:

My New dreo 711s also miss in app…

Dreo’s performance with this app integration, and their support of their various products has been extremely disappointing.

Their products (hardware wise) are premium quality, but they are severely let down by the total lack of software support. I have tried to raise this with them via several different avenues, to no avail :frowning:

I’ve again reached out to DREO about the topic, at IFA they did mention the new line-up of heating products would be supported as well. They didn’t mention when however.

Thank you for the update Abe, appreciated.

It would be a good start if they could add support for their existing products that users have been waiting to be supported for some months now, before they start adding new products. It is extremely frustrating when I have 10 Dreo products, and not one of them is supported by their official app. Smart fans, air purifiers (including models from their recent launch) and a dehumidifier.

I have found apps or workarounds to automate most of my house, including some dumb things with the creative use of smart plugs and BroadLink RM4 Pro IR & RF smart remote. But the most expensive and premium devices, that have an official app, aren’t supported :man_shrugging:t3::man_facepalming:t3: I really hope they sort something out soon

ditto here too

Hi Don @Don_Brown

After almost 6 months of no updates to the the app I got a bit bored of waiting… I needed a new setup for my Music Assistant server anyway… so I spun up a Home Assistant instance on a Raspberry Pi 5. I got curious about the Dreo integration on Home Assistant, installed it, and then installed the official Home Assistant app on my Homey Pro. It supports all 10 of my different Dreo devices PolyFan 513S, 508S, 3 different air purifiers, and a dehumidifier. So far it seems to work well, and support pretty much all the different functions.

It might be worth considering as an alternative, if Dreo can’t pull their finger out.

I was really trying to avoid HA. But, given your experience, I might just have to bite the bullet.

Same here… especially having invested so much money, time, and effort in to Homey.

It was actually a change I had requested for the Music Assistant app on Homey that spurred me on… I was running Music Assistant as a Docker container on my NAS. I only originally intended that to be a trial… but I loved the Music Assistant functionality that grouped all my Yamaha MusicCast speakers and smart speakers together seamlessly for whole home music I kept it limping on. But I don’t have much experience with Docker, and when I tried to update the Music Assistant server for the app change I’d requested to work, it broke my NAS leaving me unable to access the 60+ TB of music, video, photos and backups… so when I got it back up and running I binned off the Docker container and thought to hell with it I’ll just image a Raspberry Pi with Home Assistant OS, and run Music Assistant on that.

Once I installed it, it wasn’t all as black magic as some would make out. Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t tried to get any automations running on it (yet)… I’m still using Homey Advanced Flows for that. But it seems to be solving all my device integration woes. Then I just installed the official HA app on Homey and bingo, I can link any devices connected to HA to my Homey and it’s Flows. And Music Assistant is running a lot better too.

Running a Raspberry Pi 5 with 8GB RAM and a 512GB NVMe SSD (the NVMe HAT was dirt cheap, and 512GB SSDs aren’t expensive, but plenty for HA, you could get away with 256GB… I’ve been chucking all sorts of add-ons at it and still only up to 50GB) I would recommend the NVMe HAT, just make sure you get a compatible SSD (I got KingSpec off Amazon, listed as compatible, works great, and very reasonable price) I’m already over 4GB RAM, so glad I chose an 8GB model (I wish my Homey Pro had 8GB ha ha)

Long story short… go for it!

@Drako74 You are obviously deeper down the rabbit hole than I am. :exploding_head:

I don’t have a NAS, and I’m not sure I’m ready to go that deep into all the things that you’ve done. But, Kudos for paving the way. I also don’t have the budget to buy a NAS and a Raspberry pi, etc. If push come to shove, I might buy a HA Green.

It’s too bad that the original developer for the community based Dreo Smart Climate app has jumped ship. I’m not really a programmer, so, I hope that someone else in the community can either duplicate his work or take over his code base. DREO is certainly not investing the resources.

Cheers!

A NAS is not necessary at all for running HA… and I freely admit my NAS is way overkill for your average home user… I mean who really needs 67TB of storage, and 10Gb fibre optic networking at home. But I’ve worked in IT and networking for 30 years, and have built up my home network over that time. So I certainly would never suggest to anyone to try replicate my setup.

But a HA Green is similar hardware to a Raspberry Pi (it uses RockChip instead of Broadcom, but both 64-bit ARM processors, the Raspberry Pi 5 is a higher spec though)

HA Green CPU
Rockchip RK3566 quad-core Arm Cortex-A55 1.8 GHz

Raspberry Pi5 CPU
Broadcom BCM2712 quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 2.4 GHz

I think the main sticking points for the HA Green for me would be the fixed 4GB RAM and 32GB flash storage. Whereas with a Raspberry Pi 5 you can choose between 4 or 8GB RAM, and you have the option to use NVMe SSD storage, which I think makes the biggest performance boost. And you can customise the case etc to what ever suits you.

Unlike the HA Yellow, that was discontinued last year, the HA Green doesn’t come with radios, so if you want to use Zigbee, Z-Wave or Thread you have to buy USB dongles… the same as you’d have to do with a Raspberry Pi. You also have the option to add a PoE hat with a Raspberry Pi, so once it’s up and running you have the option to operate it with only a single cable, which is tidy

It is, he went back to Home Assistant. He only tried Homey for a short time. But now there is an official app (regardless of it’s shocking model support) I can’t see anyone else writing another community app to be honest… too big a risk of duplicating app functionality. That’s kind of my reasoning for giving up on it, and going down the HA route. I really wanted it to work with Homey, and I really tried my best to prod them in to action… but 6 months without a single app update or existing model added is absolutely appalling . So bad it’s made me doubt myself on the amount I’ve invested in their ecosystem… very poor show Dreo.

The app we’ve all been waiting for. It’s still in test, but it supports all 10 of my Dreo devices no problem (Turbo PolyFans, Air Purifiers, Fan Heaters, Dehumidifier)

The app developer is open to you testing any Dreo products, and posting to the above thread with any issues. As they say, fill ya boots chaps!

I can confirm what @Drako74 is saying. The new community app - apart from supporting many more devices - is far superior to the official Dreo one. In particular, the ability to store and recall settings presets is a game-changer.
