Dreo app problems

I know the app just dropped today, and I’m happy to have it. However, I’ve run into a few shortcomings. Some of which, I’ve already used the Suggest feature to ask Dreo to add functionality, but wanted to include it in a separate thread here in case others have hit the same snags, and perhaps resolved them.

  1. Homekit integration: While adjusting the settings for the AC, I got an error.

2. None of my ceiling fans seem to be available, DR-HCF002S and DR-HCF005S.
3. My space heater DR-HSH017S is not available
4. My portable AC unit, DR-HAC005S has only basic controls; e.g. temperature, on/off. There are two additional modes, sleep and Eco as well as 4 fan speeds that are not available.

Hello

I just bought two fans and when I log in to homey, there are neither available. I just pointed out the problem to them.

I’m a little disappointed for an official app

Me too. No ceiling Fans, no space heaters. Here’s the response I received from Dreo Support.

1.Fans and space heaters are currently unavailable in the Homey-Dreo app because these models are not yet supported for integration with the Homey platform. We will gradually roll out support for them in the future.
2.Regarding air conditioners, only basic and general control functions are currently available in the Homey-Dreo app. If you require full functionality (such as mode switching, fan speed adjustment, etc.), we recommend using the official iOS Dreo app.

Hopefully they will expand on their 1.0 release soon.

The Dreo support team response to the Homekit error above was that they do not support Homekit natively, so, no fix available. I pointed out that a lot of other non-Homekit devices do support this switch so that the device can be ported into Homekit, even with reduced features.

I have to say that I’m very disappointed in the current state of this official Dreo app. Yes, they provided the minimum functionality for just 4 of their products, likely their most recent or best selling. But, it is the bare minimum. It feels like they just phoned it in. Or, perhaps some vibe coding or use of Claude Coding. In any case very little testing or attempt at complete functionality.

If I had the coding skills, I’d try to pick up where Lee Ackroyd left off, or try to reverse engineer what he did.

I have a Dreo portable air conditioner and a tower fan, both are added and available in my android dreo app however, when I add the dreo app to my homey pro mini, only the air conditioner is available to be added. I am completely unable to add the tower fan, even though it is listed as being supported. please advise.

Same problem here too. Dreo provided a very partial solution. They covered my A/C as well, but, it has very little of the functionality that is in the app. My fan too is not covered, nor are my ceiling fans, nor the space heater.

There is an experimental Dreo app by a community member. Unfortunately he has moved over to the “dark side”, HA. It’s called Dreo Smart Climate. It’s got all of my products covered, though it’ll never be updated nor fixed if there are problems down the line.

Dreo Smart Climate Test app

I did read that Dreo recently made one of their tower fans Matter compatible. It’s one of their new ones, which I don’t have. Best of luck; I truly hope Dreo tries to add more products and more functionality, soon.

Yet another problem with this DREO official app. My A/C unit no longer connects. I sent the email below to get further help. :exploding_head:

Please Note that this is a problem that recently cropped up with the app in HOMEY PRO. The iOS app works fine. Please contact the HOMEY Pro developer within DREO! My last request about the DREO app for HOMEY PRO was mishandled, and never truly was addressed.

Within Homey, the ac unit cited in the subject line has become unavailable. It has been fine since release 1.0 of the Dreo-HOMEY app. The instruction for reconnecting the device is to try to repair.

The error message is “Your Dreo account needs to be reconnected. Open Repair on any Dreo device to continue.” I clicked the “Try to Repair” button, but, it gives me another error “Error: unknown_error_getting_file”.

Not exactly a helpful message.

I need to know the next steps to take. Do I remove the Dreo app from within Homey Pro? Are there other things I can do for you to help diagnose the problem?
