The quickest way to check whether a device is supported is to search the app store. If you can’t find the specific device, have a look for the brand of device you are looking for.

If no app is found, you can make a request to Athom or the Homey Community to add support. See [Requests] Official Homey App and Device Request for ways of doing that.

No support yet but would love to integrate my Dreo fan.

Same here would love to be able to control them through Homey.

EDIT: There is this for Home Assistant but would hope a Homey developer could do something with it; GitHub - JeffSteinbok/hass-dreo: Dreo Smart Device Integration for Home Assistant

Maybe you can add it to the Athom’s official request list at Request a Brand | Homey. I don’t see an existing request related to Dreo devices.

I have two Dreo fans and would love support for this from Homey. However in the meantime I figured that using a virtual switch would allow me to control it using Google Home as a bridge.

:rocket: How I Got Dreo Fans Working with Homey Pro – The Clean Virtual Switch Workaround :cyclone:

If you’re using a Dreo smart fan and feeling limited by the lack of native Homey Pro support, here’s a simple and effective workaround using Google Assistant + one Virtual Switch.

:white_check_mark: What You Need:

Dreo fan connected to Google Home

Homey Pro

Virtual Devices app in Homey

Google Assistant with Routines enabled

:wrench: Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Create a Virtual Switch in Homey

Open Homey app → Devices → Add device → Search for Virtual Devices

Add a virtual switch and name it simply: ā€œFanā€

This will be your master control for both ON and OFF actions

  1. Link Homey to Google Home

In the Google Home app:
Go to Settings → Works with Google → Link Homey

Once linked, your virtual switch ā€œFanā€ will appear in Google Home as a controllable device

  1. Create Two Google Routines

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Routine 1: Fan ON

Trigger: When ā€œFanā€ is turned on

Action: Say or add action → ā€œTurn on [your Dreo fan’s name]ā€

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Routine 2: Fan OFF

Trigger: When ā€œFanā€ is turned off

Action: Say or add action → ā€œTurn off [your Dreo fan’s name]ā€

:light_bulb: What This Enables:

Now, you can build Flows in Homey to trigger the ā€œFanā€ virtual switch based on:

Time

Temperature

Presence

It’s a clean, simple workaround that uses Google Assistant as the bridge. Of course, this only offers basic on and off functionality

This I can see would also work for many other devices that are not natively supported by homey

Weird still comes up ā€œThere are no ideas matching dreoā€ when checking on https://request-a-brand.homey.app/.

I’ll try adding it as well.

Edit; mine is up now; Dreo | Homey so please comment etc there

Maybe requests are saved only when you are logged in to the site?

I’ve tried that way also and didn’t work. But we now have a request up go and comment on it so we can get attention

I also couldn’t find it with search had to click on @Patrick_Dankers link above

Hi all! Just a quick update: I’ve seen your requests and wanted to share where things stand.

I’ve been trying to get in touch with the Dreo team ever since CES back in January, but so far without much luck. In the meantime, I came across a Homebridge integration someone made using TypeScript and a bit of reverse engineering.

Since I’m almost done with my Whisker app and looking for a new project, I might give it a shot and see if I can turn that into a proper Homey app. I’ll do some research first before committing though.

I’ll keep you all posted! :raised_hands:

FWIW: One place the link is shown is when searching for an app

No I meant searching for dreo to see the all ready requested ones. Thanks I know that link already.

Strange indeed. Like you, when I search for ā€œDreoā€ in the search bar I get no hits. It does not matter whether I am logged in or not. Only the direct link works .

Every request is hidden by default. Since we get thousands of them, leaving them all visible would quickly become messy. In the backend, we consolidate similar requests and mark them as ā€œvisibleā€ once enough interest has come in, typically around the time we’ve contacted the brand

When two people request Dreo, we merge those requests on our end and mark it as visible once we take action.

Good to know, Abe. Until now I presumed ā€œwhen it doesn’t show up in the search results @ request-a-brand, it wasn’t requested yet.ā€

I get the idea of not showing every individual request, but as long as a brand doesn’t show up as already requested, continue requesting a brand is the way to go anyway?

Yes, as they will simply keep accumulating

Got it! Is a ā€˜Dotan’ protection in place :grimacing: ?

I did some digging and found that the Dreo team has been working on an official Home Assistant integration, along with Python libraries that handle authentication. I’ve already started porting the authentication logic to JavaScript, but I’m currently running into 401 Invalid authentication credentials errors. It’s unclear whether this is due to incorrect credentials or a region mismatch on my account. I’ve reached out to their development team to clarify.

[Update] Also tested another account I created for the US region and there it does work but it says Wrong account or password
