I was trying your app to see if I could replace the old own tracks app. However, internally I’m using self-signed certificates which triggers an error. Would it be possible to implement a switch to turn off the certificate validation when setting up a mqtts connection?

Thanks for the app. Sorry if ive missed this but is it normal for Own Tracks to generate 2 tags for me and my family users? One is from Own Tracks and one is from Homey,
So wherever we move, there are 2 icons for each person.
Or have i missed a step?

I think that is normal, if you mean the blue dot that OwnTracks shows and the avatar that Homey shows?
OwnTracks updates it’s blue dot in real-time on the phone, but the avatar is updated when Homey gets the message and replies.
Hello, I just tryed your app and it looks realy usefull.
I have some questions. I made a quick flow:
In the time line apears no message. Why?
If I go by car there appear waypoints nearly a kilometer away from my route.
In the device info presence alarm the red writing is hard to read. Can you keep that in white?
Where can I delete routes?

When you are home, does the device show you are home?

Unfortunately, that is a built in Homey function that I can’t control.
Open the app settings - Map page and click on Filters
Click a My Journeys button for the user
In the list of journeys, click the trash can icon
Could you open the Filter, select that route under My Journeys and then click on Copy track points.
The send me a direct message and paste the coordinates in the message. I will look at what points were logged to see if there is a sorting order problem as it looks like there are a couple of strange lines.
Also, if that really was a 22 km, the waypoints seem to be a long way apart. Can you check the GPS on your phone is set up to use high accuracy.
Are you connected using HTTP or MQTT?
I submitted the app for approval and it was not totally reject, but I have to make some changes.
I have to remove Homey from the name so I won’t be called HomeyTracks and therefore any suggestion before I resubmit will be considered.
The worst bit though is I also have to remove homey from the app ID, which does mean any test installation will have to be done again.
The backup / restore feature will help, so don’t uninstall the old version until you have setup the new one.
So basically, once the new app is available, open setting tab on the current installation and hit Backup. Then switch to the new app settings and click in the text box and hit paste. Then hit Restore.
Then when you add users as devices, you will see an option to restore a user which you can use to keep the correct associations.
Unfortunately, you will have to fix the Flows that have the old users as the device ID will be different.
For that, consider using Flow Converter. This app can replace the old device IDs with the new ones. And as such fixing the flows. Before you remove the old devices from Homey, take note of their IDs in the Device section of the Homey Developer Tools. You’ll need the old IDs as input for the conversion.
One question. Is you app changing the homey away status?
Because since I installed your app and the ontrack app homey suddenly swithes from home to away back to home in a few seconds while I’m not moveing.
It doesn’t control the Home / Away status, only a Homey Zone activity if that has not been excluded.
If you want to control the Homey Home / Away it would have to be done through a Flow.

Hi Adrian,
A question, on my iPhone it seems to be rather difficult to copy the endpoint-url of an existing person. When you add a person, there is a button to copy that url.
Can you show that button again in edit-mode?

Migrating was quite simple by using the app’s ex-/import tool, and @ Owntracks, replace the http URL with the new generated one.

I’m not sure what I’m missing or getting wrong, but not matter what I try, I haven’t been able to get it to connect/work. I thought I had followed your HTTP setup instructions to the letter. But every time I tap Save in the app settings I get the Saved pop-up, tap OK and then get this error, but don’t know what the missing parameter is?
When I go in to the person device Advanced Settings to get the HTTP URL it only shows the first half of the URL, and doesn’t let you select or copy it at all (perhaps an iOS problem, but a problem nonetheless)
And every time I open the OwnTracks app I get errors like these, despite having entered the URL and enabled the remote cmd and configuration options in Advance Settings.
Do you have any ideas what I messed up, or pointers how to get it working please?
EDIT: I did try enabling the logging and then reproducing the errors, but although the errors still appeared on screen, nothing showed up in the logs. I even tried restarting the app, and tried switching to MQTT and back to HTTP, the on screen error recurred but nothing in the log. I also tried uninstalling both the app and OwnTracks and starting again, but the same problem
