[APP][Pro] Support for ONVIF compatible cameras (Release 2.0.60, Test 2.0.60)

Hi Adrian, I’ve check it in the Reolink app and there the line crossing detection have detected. The problem is that it not get to the Homey Onvif app. I want you to know that the person, animal and vehicle detection work very fine. I don’t know why the line crossing detection not reached the Homey Onvif app.

That’s what he’s saying: your camera doesn’t expose the crossing detection information over ONVIF.

Yes, thats the problem. Thats why I ask him for help. Why does it not get to the Onvif app?

“your camera doesn’t expose the crossing detection information over ONVIF”

It’s a limitation of your camera, not the app.

Okay thank you, but it is strange that it works well in the Reolink app. If I understand you correctly the problem is that the camera linecross detection is not compatible with the Onvif app.

The problem is the camera is not posting ONVIF events for line crossing. You will need to contact Reolink for an answer to that.

The Reolink app won’t be using ONVIF, it will use it’s own API, so that’s why it works in the Reolink app by not via ONVIF.

The line crossing is working fine with the ONVIF app on my HikVision camera, so the app is supports it.

Thanks Adrian, its all clear for me now.

Joris, most Reolink cams come with Onvif & RTSP disabled.
Just check the cam’s manual on how to navigate to the specific settings page of the Reolink phone app (hint: “network”), and forget the gpt thing :wink:

The doorbell works great!

Hello Adrian, have you found out anything about this?

Thanks for the reply!

I actually spent quite some time testing this.

My Reolink WiFi Doorbell is connected through the Reolink Home Hub, and that seems to be the issue.

The Hub doesn’t show up as an ONVIF camera in Homey — I just keep getting the “invalid protocol” message.

From what I’ve learned, ONVIF only works on the standalone Reolink models, not the ones behind the Hub.

So for now I guess it’s just not possible to add it directly in Homey.

Works fine in Home Assistant though :+1:

Maybe something for a future update — who knows !

J.

Ah! That explains.
I use stand alone cams.

Do you use the H.A. Reolink or Onvif integration?

Reolink claims you can use onvif with Home Hub+cam combo’s

To find any onvif info, do any of these tools find the Hub/cam?

Hello Adrian,

Thanks for the update! I already had the app but needed to download the untested version. Now i have one camera working (hikvision DS-2CD2386G2-I). This one is direct on the network. The other camera’s (same type) are wired via NVR and dont work with a live stream. Only screenshots work with these NVR connected camera’s. do you have any suggestions on that?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry, that one slipped through. I have now checked the log and the camera is only showing one video source:

14:38:27.860: VideoSources (192.168.0.7): [

			"token": "000"

If you look in the device advanced settings, what is the ONVIF Live Stream URL?

Thanks Peter!
Yes, I tried both — the official Reolink integration in Home Assistant and the ONVIF app in Homey.
The Reolink one works straight away, detects the Home Hub,Chime and the WiFi Doorbell instantly.
The ONVIF app in Homey always gives the same “invalid protocol” error.

From what I’ve learned (thanks to ChatGPT and a lot of testing ), the Hub identifies itself as an ONVIF device but doesn’t actually expose the required RTSP/ONVIF endpoints.
So it looks compatible, but it’s really locked to Reolink’s own API.
Maybe they’ll open it up in a future firmware, but for now HA’s Reolink integration is the only one that truly works.
PS:
I’m sending the “doorbell press” and “motion” entities from HA to Homey via MQTT, because it’s a lot faster than using the HA app in Homey.
The MQTT triggers are instant, while the HA app adds a small delay.

Also noticed that generating live-view or snapshot links from the Hub is quite tricky.
the URLs are token-based and require authentication, so they can’t easily be used in Homey or external dashboards.
That’s another reason why I rely on HA to handle the camera feed instead of trying to pull it directly from the Hub.

So for now I’ll stick with HA + MQTT to Homey — works like a charm :+1:

If HA has implemented support for it, it is open.

YW!

I can imagine you have closed this case, but I’m still curious :grimacing:

Onvif = Onvif, nothing Reolink can “close”. Only what functionality is exposed via Onvif is up to manufacturers.

And using the HA Reolink app is not the same as HA Onvif integration / Homey Onvif app.

This is why I wondered if the tools below could find the cam as exposed by the hub

.

Which one?
I’m very content with the HA community app by RonnyW

No problem, the URL is:

I was (re-) reading the Reolink TrackMix Wifi feature overview on the website and I understood that only the wide angle camera detects motion (persons/pets/cars). When motion is detected, the tele-lense comes into action and tracks the object (that’s apparently one of the options). That’ what they call “Auto zoom tracking”. Not sure if the main video stream is the combined video or if this is in a sub-stream.

@Asterix Can you clarify if the above is correct? Would like to be sure before I place my order for this camera.

Finaly decided for the Reolink Elite Wifi. It has 2 cameras for a 180° view. Have connected it to Homey via your app and it works greath (persons/pets/car detection) and snapshot !

Now investigating for a second camera: the Reolink TrackMix …

That’s generic, so no clue there if it can support the other camera. I think it’s looking unlikely that its available.
