[APP][Pro] SolarEdge + Growatt TCP modbus

hey ,

nothing was changed on solaredge for connection for years and prod version is not updated from Dec 2024.

I guess your firmware update or new features makes it unstable . I just poll it every 25 seconds, did you change this polling value?

got latest, controlling goes fine, but I have now every 2 days I lost connection to LG battery. remove and add modbus battery and it is ok again for 2 days.

I think it goes in sleep mode when modbus is not being used after some time

really , what voltage ? on 1 of the grid phases. you would expect it should recover when it is down again.

so what you want to control on huawei? did you install some meters?

did you try the modbus app to see what works?

By my old SolarEdge there is the polling option (this inverter works fine, no changes) and indeed 25 seconds.
But by the other SolarEdge (the one not working correctly anymore), there is no polling option.

I controlle the batteries (also SolarEdge) thrue my SolarEdge inverter.

In my place, the voltage of the grid is often too high. Which causes the inverters to switch off. With the Homey I regulate the power limit, if the voltage for example becomes 252V, then the Homey ensures that the power limit of both inverters becomes 10%. But if the voltage of the grid goes to 256V, then both inverters switch off. And after a while they restart. When this happens, I can no longer get contact with one inverter (with the batteries).

SolarEdge has changed something in their start-up process. I think the inverter starts up in a kind of “back-up mode”. Firmware Updates and Release Notes

I installed the modbus app now. It says: Device unavailable : connect ECONNREFUSED.

I will reset the inverter now and see what the modbus app will say. “Everything’s fine” I do had to change the modbus port.

does export limit to 0 or active limit to 0 helps, if you have 1 phase inverter you can try to switch to a different phase. Also I think they can do a little adjustment on your gird. in your area.
or with home backup you can disconnect from grid. but probably needs recent home inverter.

I guess if 252V and still early in the afternnoon, check solcast for coming hour then just put it to 0.
restting sounds like a lot of work.

Would it be possible to implement the limit export for growatt . Its supported in the growatt modbus protocol .

Would be great if we could also shut down the growatts just like the solaredges with the app

nice , what is your version ? sph or tl with or without battery, the test version of this app added a lot of new features

do you have the modbus doc register for this. and did you try it out with the modbus app?

register 00

——-

Why should one ever want to shutdown the inverter?

Growatt is manageable to zero everything you want, but for sure there is no need for shutdown as the apparatus is made to be online and do his yob.

or 3 and adapt to your houseload. or 0 when it is negative price.

adapt is even nicer. but on the homeassistant forum some users report it as non functional on some models.

Why shutdown ? because of the negative prices for power usage that are more common every week.

ok, can try it with the modbus app. see what works for you.

Still trying to find out how to limit the export by %
When i read the values from the different modbus registers for the limit registers they dont state 100 or 0 but strange numers like 928 and 5123
For now the turn of and on is the only one that seems to work.
Cant make heads or tail from the homeassistant code to find what register adresses they use for the limit in %

The downside of growatt inverters is that they go into standby mode when sunlight is low .
Then the whole inverter shuts down and communication stops. So when i’m home to try to find it after work the stuppid inverter already is in standby

Hi @Dalton78,
have you been able to run your Solar System (Kostal inverter + BYD battery) with the app SolarEdge + Growatt TCP modbus?
Does everything work fine?

I also want to buy that combination, therefore it would be helpfull to know.
Thank you!

@MarcoRuiter, I have 2 growatt running on 2 locations, both listen to the app and the flows for reducing export % 24/7 and much more. So I do not recognise any of your findings. How to help? @Edwin_Biemond , as you know you did a great yob to make things work with me, how do we solve this or how can I contribute.

I have the ** Growatt Inverter Modbus RTU Protocol V1.24** (2023) available,

This is very old..
