Supported Devices

Device Probes Pit Sensors Probe Batteries Status
INT-14-BW 4 wireless All probes Per probe :white_check_mark: Tested & Ready
INT-12E-BW 2 wireless All probes Per probe :hourglass: Under test - Release soon
INT-12-BW 2 wireless Probe 1 only Per probe :hourglass: Under test - Release soon
IBT-4XS 4 wired None None :construction: In development
IBBQ-4T 4 wired None None :construction: In development

Note: Currently only the INT-14-BW has been fully tested. The INT-12 is implemented and preparing for release — testers welcome! The IBT-4XS (wired probes) is actively being developed.

Dashboard Widget

The Probe Overview widget brings your INKBIRD thermometer directly to your Homey dashboard for at-a-glance monitoring:

What You See

  • All probe temperatures — Internal meat and pit temperatures for each probe
  • Real-time status — Green checkmark for active probes, grey for inactive
  • Probe connections — Shows Active, Docked (charging), Paired, or Unpaired status
  • Battery levels — Monitor base station battery + individual probe batteries
  • Live update indicator:
    • :high_voltage: Yellow lightning = Real-time streaming (active connection)
    • :high_voltage: Grey lightning = Polling mode (fallback)
    • Red cross = Stale data (no updates for 30 seconds)

Smart Stale Data Protection

  • Automatically grays out when no data arrives for 30 seconds
  • Prevents relying on old readings if your thermometer disconnects
  • Restores normal view instantly when connection resumes
  • Always know if you’re looking at fresh or cached data

Perfect For

  • Monitoring multiple probes simultaneously while cooking
  • Quick checks from across the house without opening the app
  • Setting up automations based on temperature thresholds
  • Detecting connection issues at a glance

Getting Started

  1. Install the app from the Homey App Store
  2. Power on your INKBIRD thermometer
  3. Close the INKBIRD phone app (only one Bluetooth connection allowed!)
  4. Add device in Homey — search for your thermometer
  5. Insert probes and start monitoring!

Flow Card Ideas

Perfect Steak

When Probe 1 temperature rises above 54°C → Send notification “Steak is medium-rare, time to rest!”

Pit Too Hot

When Pit temperature rises above 150°C → Send notification “Close the vents!”

Fire Dying

When Pit temperature drops below 100°C → Alert “Add more fuel!”

Connection Lost

When device becomes unavailable → Turn on red smart light + Send push notification

Low Battery

When probe battery drops below 20% → Remind “Charge probes before next cook!”

Back Online

When device becomes available → Send notification with downtime duration

Troubleshooting

Problem Solution
Device not found Close the INKBIRD phone app — only one Bluetooth connection allowed
Immediate disconnect Disable Bluetooth on your phone, wait 30 seconds, try again
No temperature data Insert at least one probe; check device is powered on
Shows “–” values Device lost connection or no data for 2+ minutes; check if in range
Probe status “Unpaired” Pair the probe with your base station first

when you need a tester for the wired probes version, let me know!

Which device do you currently have? Would be nice to support a few more devices. Bytheway mine works great. I got a 4 probe version, with which I can also monitor the pit/ambient temperature.

I have the IBBQ-4T with 4 wired probes

Thanks for the offer to test! The IBBQ-4T is WiFi-based (and uses the Tuya platform under the hood), which is quite different from the Bluetooth devices currently supported in the app. Adding support would require a fair bit of reverse-engineering and development work to get it communicating properly with Homey.

That said, I’d love to give it a try—no promises on timeline or success, though. If you’re in or near Rotterdam and wouldn’t mind lending me the device for a while (so I can test it directly at my desk), that would make things a lot easier.

Would be interesting to see. Wifi version is more versatile as you typically you have larger distances to cover (watching tv inside while the meat is cooking  )

You raise a valid point about WiFi range, it’s definitely the more practical choice for serious outdoor cooking setups. If Bluetooth range from your kitchen to your couch is an issue… congratulations on the mansion!

Here’s the thing though: my INT-14-BW actually has both WiFi and Bluetooth. The WiFi connects to INKBIRD’s cloud, which works, but comes with the usual cloud dependencies and limitations. By going Bluetooth-only with this Homey integration, I get a fully local setup—no cloud, no external dependencies, instant response times.

The architecture is pretty elegant: probes communicate with the base station (sitting in my kitchen), and the base station talks to Homey over Bluetooth. For larger setups, Homey Bridge also supports Bluetooth but I didn’t test that setup yet.

But first: happy New Year! Let’s see what 2026 brings.

Happy new year to too.

My probes aren’t wireless so the base stays near bbq in the garden. I did have the old bluetooth before. But even in my small garden, the range wasn’t enough to have my phone in the room and the base in the garden.

Happy new year! :fireworks: @Merijn I just received the INT-12E-BW if you need a tester. I will run it via Bluetooth and not use wifi (initially).

The INKBIRD WiFi devices are Tuya-based, you need the Tuya app for those.

Can you elaborate on that. What are the steps? I have thebTuya (official) app installed. But what do I add as there is no inkbird to add

That is great timing :). Could you do some beta testing and drop me a mail with results/screenshots?

I think the correct one would be “Climate sensor”.

You need to remove the device from the INKBIRD mobile app first, and then connect it using either the “Tuya Smart” or the “Smart Life” mobile app.

I just put version 0.1.1 in store with support for two INT-12 devices. I am looking forward for feedback!
