Very bad timing I migrated my homey 2016 to 2023

@Jan_Peeters given your hate if community apps, I’m going to assume your going to uninstall my app :crossed_fingers: and this will no longer be an issue for you.

but as I stated in the first quote - if someone else has an issue with their curtains/window/blinds coverings I would be happy to have a look at it, just send me your details. So far no one has though ……

It’s about the window blinds, but it seems like version 3.1.15 somehow fixed it.
So they are working now.
I want to thank you for your hard work on the app.
Homey need you and the developers to make the product great!

Yesterday I updated v2.5.x. to v3.1.15, all groups worked well with v3.1.15.

Today I restored a backup on a Homey Pro early 2019, 8.1.3 which included the old v2.5.x.

The newest v3.1.15 was installed/updated automatically because v2.5.x was installed before via the restore process.

The devices which worked well with v3.1.15 before do not work after the restore anymore.

I installed v3.1.15 manually again, same result, the group devices do not work.

The devices are related to the group app in the app section.

But it seems something went wrong in the restore process or did I miss something.

No, Restore always installs the latest Apps from the Homey App store. The backup only includes the App IDs and App Settings. Guess You have to do it with the current version and fix manually.

as a developer, I want to express my compassion. So much unpaid work for the community. Heads up. I know from my apps how much work it is to implement devices that you don’t own and can’t test. It’s all just trial and error then.

Hence the request to all users:

  • Show respect
  • Support the developer. It’s up to you how you want to contribute…Paypal, test, constructive feedback…
  • If you find errors, don’t complain, but provide helpful feedback with as many details as possible. Jamie has already described this.
    A “this doesn’t work” doesn’t help to find and eliminate the error.

No problem I will fix it manually, but any idea what is missing or breaking the connection between the app and the devices?

Since the last update today (3.1.15) everything’s working for me again, didn’t had to recreate the groups.
Homey pro 2019 w/ Ikea Fyrtur blinds.

We can’t thank you enough for your incredible work and support, especially in the last days - people like you are what’s making homey that amazing!

It’s working fine now (3.1.15) with the deleted devices, @Jamie. Also blinds working fine.

But editing devices in a group was never really broken for me. I swear!

I switched rather often as we’ve had guests and redecorating the house, working like a charm every time. Sometimes the app would need a restart, but this feature has been so great!

community programmers are saints. unfortunately many users are like this, they want to be fed ready and often they can only complain. it’s our hobby and we are happy to solve these problems, partly out of challenge, partly out of presumption. but this is the world. thank you all

While I also was affected by the recent issues which are fixed in the meantime, I noticed something different: for some reason the “configure app” option disappeared (Homey App > More > Apps > Groups)?

So my existing groups work all fine again but I cannot access any setting menu…

I am from Germany and running Homey on german language, does it have to do something with the recent language pack upgrades? I noticed that the app also renamed from “group” to “Gruppe” (german) - any advice or am I stupid?

Updating or rebooting didn’t help. I am running group 3.1.15 on Homey V 8.1.3 and an Homey Pro Early 2019.

There is no setting menu, yet, Jamie is focusing first on stabilizing application functionality itself due to the extensive rewrite required.

The group device (Alle Jalousien) do not close/open the blinds after restoring a backup with v 3.1.15.

I updated the app today and all the existing groups of the rolluiken did not work anymore. I saw the are of class blinds.

I created a new group of class windowcoverings and that seems to work fine with the somfy rts Rolluiken.

Ill recreate all the groups with class windowcoverings.
