[APP][Pro] FireAngel - Smart solutions for safer homes

FireAngel - Smart solutions for safer homes.

Central topic for questions/discussing the FireAngel App. You can use this topic to ask questions and share your experiences with using the app.

This app is developed by @Doekse and currently only works on Homey Pro. We’ve reached out to FireAngel to explore making this official and adding support for Homey Cloud

Good to know:

  • This app currently supports only the ZB-module (Zigbee) and ZW-module (Z-Wave). Wi-Safe modules, which use FireAngel’s proprietary wireless standard, are not supported.
  • The ZB-module can be a bit tricky to pair. If capability values remain empty (null) after inclusion, perform a self-test on the alarm once. If it still doesn’t work, reset the module and run a device repair in Homey. This is related to IAS Zone enrollment which doesn’t always play nicely.

Ik have already added my fireangel zwave modules to the homey network before your app existed (but of course without any working functionality). Is there a way to connect the app to these devices without having to take the devices off the ceiling?

Thank you for developing the app btw

My pleasure!

Unfortunately you do need to pair the devices again for them to work with the app.

I just integrated my ST630 with zwave module. Works well. Thanks for the app

In regards to flows: Is there a possibility to also have ‘then’ actions in the flow. I would like to have to sync the alarm with other smoke detectors in the house, similar like is done here

Unfortunately, FireAngel devices cannot be triggered directly from Homey.

However, with the Z-Wave variants, you can link them together using a Z-Wave Association. This makes it so that when one device is triggered, all others will trigger as well.

You can configure this in the device’s advanced settings. For FireAngel devices, use Association Group 3**.

what does it do when group 2 is triggered? Is there documentation about this?

You can find the official documentation here. Group 3** is triggered with any alarms.

I’m trying to figure out how this works. Not an expert on this. Could you help me out a little?

for example: if smoke sensor with node ID 123 gives alarm and it must wake up and start the alarm with sensor node id 124, what should I put in association group 2 in homey?

For 123, you enter 124 in Group 3. For 124, you enter 123 in Group 3. Essentially, for each node, you specify which other node should receive the notification.

Great there’s an app again! I tested it with the ZW-Module: v0.0.3 worked, v1.0.0 is broken. I submitted a PR, with that it works again.

Thanks a lot for creating this app.

Great find! That’s an oversight on my end, I’ll push the update first thing tomorrow. Thanks!

Will there be support for the FireAngel SM-F1-EU smoke detectors? I have a Zigbee add-on module connected to it. These smoke detectors run on 230V AC and there is no pairing button available, neither on the detector, nor on the add-on Zigbee module.

If the smoke alarm is using the ZB-Module add-on there should be a small button on the module that can be used for pairing. Do you mind sharing a picture?

I use those exact smoke alarms with both the ZW- and ZB-Module and they work just fine.

Thanks! Is it the small round black dot on the squared metal unit beneath the row of ‘pinholes’?

Ah, it looks like the plastic cover on your ZB-module is missing. It’s indeed the square with the small black button underneath the row of through-holes

It came like that, without a cap. I guess they sold me a lemon. Anyway, I tried the pairing sequence: holding the button for 5 seconds results in a 10 times flashing red led. But when I push the button shortly one time more after the 10 flashes, nothing happens. The led won’t flash every second. I also tried two pushes, but then the led lights up for about 5 seconds, but still no pairing. Am I missing something here?

I do notice that the board revision on your ZB-Module is quite old. Do you still have the paperwork that came witht he unit? It might be the pairing procedure is different for the older models.

No paperwork came with the unit. I got it in 2024 and wanted it to pair with my Homey Pro 2023, but there was no working app. Just today I came across your new app and installed it immediately. So the unit hasn’t been in use since I bought it.

Co-pilot says the unit is from 2015-2017, and unreliable compared to current revisions. Pairing is hit-or-miss with Homey Pro. Miss in my case…Current Z-wave units are considered best in reliability and functionality. Can you confirm that? Thanks.

The ZW-Module works very well with Homey and offers some more features compared to the ZB-module, like alarm capabilities for when the device needs to be inspected, cleaned or replaced.

From what I can find your ZB-Mobule should follow the same pairing procedure as the newer revisions; after a reset a single press of the button should start pairing mode where the LED blinks once per second.
