[APP][Pro] Eufy Security

Hi @martijnpoppen

I do not seem to get the event/snapshot images to work and get the newest image. Snapshot image stays on the placeholder, even when running a flow

Any clue on how to troubleshoot this? I use the doorbell with hb3

Thanks!

@r.7255 please send a diagnostic report

@r.7255 please make sure to run the snapshot flow first before sending a report

Now I can’t see anything

@r.7255 i don’t see a issue. Snapshot should be updated

Hmm, unfortunately the event and snapshot images in homey did not. Any way to debug this?

running the same flow for another eufy cam also does not replace the placeholder image with a new image

@r.7255 you are on the test version can you install the live version of the app and see if that works?

Using the live version gives me this image as snapshot:

Hey @martijnpoppen,

First of all — thanks for the awesome Eufy app! It usually works great, but right now my backyard camera seems to have gone a bit… shy.

Instead of a live feed, I’m getting this stylish “Eufy Placeholder Image” — very modern art, but not exactly what I was hoping to see.

Any idea what’s going on here?
Is my camera taking a break, or did I mess up a setting somewhere?

Thanks again for your great work and all the time you put into these integrations — they really make Homey even better! :raising_hands:

Cheers,
Willie

Hi, I can see why they were removed in the first place, but like some others said in the meanwhile, they don’t seem to update after events either.

@Glenn_Dijkstra can you send a report?

@Willie_Plompen do you have a flow to set the snapshot?

@r.7255 the live expect that you enable snapshots in the device settings . That is removed in the test version. Can you do that first and try again?

@Glenn_Dijkstra i think I know what goes wrong

Will check

@Willie_Plompen then it seems the same issues as the others reported at the same time with you

Will check it out

New app update (:orange_square: TEST: 3.39.0):

Changelog:

NEW:
1: NEW: Local snapshot capture (more reliable snapshots) - This removes the limit of cloud snapshots (Snapshots will be made with FFMPEG which runs on your Homey)
2: NEW: video streaming for RTSP supported devices (Make sure to enable RTSP in Eufy app first)
3: NEW: Start RTSP stream when requested, should prevent the auto RTSP kill because of the Eufy firmware

FIXES:
1: FIX: memory leak in library
2: FIX: memory issue with snapshots (this caused app crashes)
3: FIX: removed duplicate snapshot updates
4: FIX: improved error handling in snapshot capture
5: FIX: revert battery saving fixes which actually didn’t save battery
6: FIX: check if device has streaming capability to prevent crashes on non camera devices
7: FIX: eufyCam E330 Professional (T8600) didn’t have RTSP in the Eufy SDK
8: FIX: snapshot not updating (occured in 3.38.4)
9: FIX: battery drain (occured in 3.38.4)

BLOCKED: (Not Testable yet)
1: video streaming for Battery devices via ffmpeg (which do not support RTSP natively) (maximum 5 minutes per stream due to Eufy limitations)

You can install this version by clicking the link (version number) above and press install

@martijnpoppen So sorry, but the battery drain issue I saw in all the 3.38.n versions is still there in 3.39.0. This graph shows the effect of:

  • Starting with 3.37.0
  • Installing 3.38.4
  • Reinstalling 3.37.0
  • Installing 3.39.0
  • Reinstalling 3.37.0

The gradient of the battery discharge has been the same for each version suggesting the underlying cause hasn’t been affected by the different versions.
