[APP][Pro] Eufy Security

Hello everyone,
I try to optimize my use of eufy with heimdall.
Currently I enabled push notification on move detection only on my doorbell when alarm is OFF, when alarm is ON I change eufy alarm mode and in this one every camera sends notifications on movement.
But when I turn alarm ON, heimdall notifies me that cameras did not respond for 10 or more days with critical notifications on my phone, I suppose that’s because I did not enable notifs for cameras when alarm is OFF and nothing triggered camera move detection when alarm is ON (hopefully).
I like to have push notifications enabled only for my doorbell when alarm is off to be notified when someone is at my door, that’s why I did not activate notifs for all camera in this mode.
I hope I gave enough details on my situation for you to understand
Do you have some ideas to make it better ?
Thanks  !

PS : system :

  • homebase 3 on which everything is connected
  • 3 S350
  • 2 S3 Pro
  • 1 doorbell E340

Hi,

I have tried Germany and France – same issue.

The Eufy app and Homey have been restarted several times, but the same issue persists.

@Shaba49 nothing i can do about this

I still dont know where the issues comes from. And already tried a lot to make it work but nothing worked. I don’t have the knowledge about the logic and already reached out to my partner at Eufy

Hi @Vincent_Roue

From what I understand, you only enable push notifications on your doorbell when the alarm is OFF, and when the alarm is ON, you switch to a Eufy mode where all cameras send notifications on motion. However, since there may be no motion during that time, Heimdall thinks the cameras are inactive and sends critical alerts about it.

Here are a few ideas to improve your setup:

  1. Keep motion detection enabled on all cameras, even when the alarm is OFF, but only enable push notifications for the doorbell. This way, cameras remain “active” and Heimdall won’t think they’re unresponsive.

  2. If Heimdall supports it, adjust the timeout or alert settings to avoid critical warnings when no motion is detected for a while.

Unfortunately without push notifications the eufy app doesn’t receive data and it’s impossible to let heimdall know about the status

Is it possible to revert back to v3.36.0. as a test version?
We know that it definitely worked with this release, and I can work with you on changes applied to version 3.36.1 etc?

Maybe just an idea, but is it possible for you in the eufy app to force the movement detection to No for a camera with a flow card, so that for example i can force every camera state at 8am when I’m home and when I turn ON heimdall it’ll see that camera was active less than a day ago ?

I just tested to send push notification with every camera, and I’m flooded with notifs on my phone ^^’, and so I cannot know when someone is ringing except if I have a look to every notifs

I’m also thinking about having 2 homebase to split alarm modes, notifications etc, but I don’t think it’ll work well.

Last solution would be to change my doorbell to another brand, but I love the e340 that I just bought

If the first solution is possible then it would be very appreciated

Thanks again for your help !

@Shaba49 I’ll check if it that’s possible. but do know that that is not a proper version as it caused a lot of issues for other people.

@Vincent_Roue hmm that might be possible, but can be really confusing for a lot of people as the Homey app requires notifications to function, turning them off would result in a lot of support from my side, so that’s also why i never implemented that.

I’m not asking to delete notification, but to force update with a flow card, or even a homeyscript. I understand that could be confusing.
I’ll have a look to what I can do with scripts

@Vincent_Roue so you mean that it would trigger motion? can you elaborate a bit?

What I’m thinking is to keep my system like that :

  • Alarm ON (heimdall & eufy) : doorbell & camera notification, camera movement will result as an alarm, so that I can trigger the alarm & monitor if someone is at my door.
  • Alarm OFF (heimdall & eufy) : only doorbell notification. Because when I’m home I don’t want to have notifs when my kitchen camera sees me, but only when someone is at my door

As I mentionned earlier, this configuration will often result on no update from camera in the last XXX days (I’m currently at 26 days without move detection in homey), and so when I turn on Heimdall it sends me critical notifications that cameras did not respond for a long time.

My proposal would be to ‘manual’ update the movement detection in homey by using a flow or a script to reset the ‘inactive timer’.
This would not affect the other users in their configuration.

Tell me if I’m not clear because I’m not quite fluent in english

@Vincent_Roue that would be like a ghost movement detection. I don’t really prefer that as it has no functionality. It only solves a issue which you have with Heimdall.

so we could also turn it around and discuss with the developer of heimdall to change this?

You make a point, this problem is not from eufy but can appear with other systems with Heimdall.
I’ll see if someone is in a comparable situation on heimdall forum
Once again, thanks for your time !

Hi,

I just installed the Eufy app for Homey and configured it with a extra account via the Eufy app.
The thing now is that i can’t acces the camera videostream from the Homey app.

Anybody ran into this one?

Is it planned to use Eufy water sensor in homey?

@Michael_Zimmer it’s on the todo list see [APP][Pro] Eufy Security - #5 by martijnpoppen - Apps - Homey Community Forum . But i don’t expect it to be added to the sdk

Hi, does anybody know the delay Time to get the motion detection Information from a eufy doorbell e340? I think About switching from Ring to eufy just to vut off the cloud. This will Inlay work for us of I get immediate thumbnail on the Apple Watch when motion or Ring is detected… brgds

@chrb
It depends.. the delay can vary based on your network setup and how you’re accessing the notifications. Also, just to clarify, this question isn’t really relevant for the Eufy Homey app specifically. You might get better info by asking in a more general Eufy group.

@martijnpoppen

Thanks for the info!

My main concern with the Ring camera is that, due to the cloud-based setup, motion detection comes with a delay of several minutes — which makes it practically unusable for my needs.

If I understand correctly, EUFY uses a local connection instead, meaning motion events are transmitted to Homey almost instantly. Is that correct?
