[APP][Pro] Eufy Security

Hi there, did the app login again after the update?

@Glenn_Dijkstra on every start of the app the app logs in. So also when theres a update. Never saw that email though

thx for the quick reply, i ll search a little further

Hi! I have an issue similar to the one described above: I use flows to change the security state of my cameras, for example Armes or Home. It has been working the past months. Once I had to use the repair functionality but it has worked ever since. Very recently (yesterday maybe or 2-3 days ago) something happened and Homey thinks that the state changes but it does not in the app for most of my cameras. I do not have the homebase, I have 3 floodlight cameras, 2 pan&tilt and couple of other models. One of the pan&tilt cameras reacts to the requests and the arm state changes but there is nothing special about this camera.
I tried restarting the eufy app, restarting Homey, restarting all of the cameras, repairing most of the cameras but nothing helps. I am not sure if the repair option works or not. Most of the time I get timeout and if I try again, the app thinks for a while and then just goes back to the previous screen. I sometimes get a captcha and after typing it in it is the same, one of the scenarios I described with timout or going back one screen.

Is there anything you can think of that I could try? I created a diagnostic report and I sent it in using the app.

Thank you!

@Krzysiek already replied in both reports

Hi @martijnpoppen,

I still experience odd/weird behaviours with the “Arm Mode changed > Arm Mode is” card(s).

Today, I experienced the following scenario, everything happened within a couple of minutes:

  1. Someone switched to Away mode via the keypad: “Arm Mode changed > Arm Mode is Away” card is triggered - CORRECT.
  2. Someone switched to Home mode (through a flow, when the front door is opened): “Arm Mode changed > Arm Mode is Home” card is triggered - CORRECT.
  3. Someone switched to Away mode via the keypad: “Arm Mode changed > Arm Mode is Home” card is triggered - WRONG.

I have looked at the notifications sent from the Eufy app, and they were all correct. Also the arm status in the Eufy app (homebase device) has been correct all the time. So, when nr 3 above happened, the arm status in the Eufy app said “Away” BUT for some reason the “Arm Mode changed > Arm Mode is Home” was trigged instead of the “Arm Mode changed > Arm Mode is Away”!

I have experienced this before, but today I could really follow what actually happened.

Thanks for looking into this.

  • Homebase 2 (system v3.2.9.5h; subsystem v1.3.0.9), Homey app v3.17.3

Hey @Peter_Kalrsson

that’s strange, I’ll try to reproduce it.

Unfortunately your logs contain nothing security mode related…

Strange @martijnpoppen - I did create the log directly afterwards. See phone notifications here:

@Peter_Kalrsson about the second point, you said the trigger to home mode was also via Keypad right?

So sorry, NO, my fault. The second step is not triggered by the keypad, it’s triggered by a flow (when the front door is unlocked).

Hi again @martijnpoppen,

Sorry, I was in a bit of rush when I wrote before. Let me summarize my findings.

When changing arm state to “Away” through the keypad:

:white_check_mark: The arm state is always changed to “Away” in the Eufy app.
:white_check_mark: The arm state is always changed to “Away” in the Homebase device in Homey.
:no_entry: The “Arm Mode changed > Arm Mode is Away” card is not always triggered; I have seen at least a couple of times now that “Arm Mode changed > Arm Mode is Home” card is triggered instead.

I have not encountered this on my old HP2019 system – so, a clue might be to look at changes made in the last month or so.

Thanks a million for looking into this!

@Peter_Kalrsson I setup a flow like this and keep it running for some days to check what’s going on

Great  Note that it seems to occur very inconsistent, so please be patient

(BTW - great idea, I will set up the same flow  )

Hello! I’m very grateful for this app, and all it provides. I was stumped by the notifications being forced, but through the FAQ I realized that was intentional. I turned off the setting, and that works well.

Would it be possible to get some more information about what might happen if I change the notification setting? Having it on ‘full’ means a several second delay in delivering notifications, both through Eufy and Homey. I’d like only text for its speed. It’s mentioned that there’s better support with it on Full. Does that affect Eufy 3C and Ringcam 2K?

Hey @Articate
Thanks!

Yeah unfortunately there’s no official support from Eufy for a API. So this is a reversed engineered solution. Luckily there’s a solution :stuck_out_tongue:

The include thumbnail is the best if you want to have snapshot in Homey. (drawback is delay)
If you don’t want that you can set it to text. Make sure to disable the force option in the homey device aswell. (see image below)

As i’m forcing the correct notification type from the app due to many bug reports which were due to incorrect settings

That’s great to know. I’ll do some more testing to land on what I wanna use. Are these bugs related to person/vehicle detection and the likes? If I only want motion, should I be in the clear to use text only? Or is it a model specific thing?

I turned off the forcing, so at least it’s very response now!

@Articate if you only want motion without an image then text it the way to go. If you want a snapshot of the motion then make sure to enable the include thumbnail

Thanks! It works very well!

But, the motion sensor on the S330 (Cam 3) isn’t all that reliable. Is there a way to trigger recording on a device by a flow? As in, if a motion sensor in Homey senses motion, then record video on a device?

@Articate no unfortunately not. Only if you have eufy motion sensors, then you can create a flow in the official eufy app. but that’s inner workings of the app and unfortunately not exposed to the “API”
