Good news! Hope you fix the thumbnails as well! Didn’t know of the group on Github that has the same fascination you have. For what do the other people use the knowledge of Eufy for?
You know what really surprises me: I just installed the latest (test) version, 3.5.2. After that, when the doorbel notices someone, I unfortunately get your message about Eufy adjusting their API.
But till just before, using one of the previous versions, I still received the current picture of the person standing in front of the doorbell. Despite the adjusted API. So, to me that seems the method you used for retreiving thumbnails, still seems to work?
Is there a possibility to install the previous version of your Eufy app? Now I’m really curious.
You know, reading the problems the action of Eufy caused and seeing thumbnails of people standing in front of the doorbell, I really thought the patch of Eufy had no effect on stills, only on the stream /movie. You say it does. I would love to test it.
Not really, Eufy patched it, so if it works for you that wouldn’t make any difference to the Homey app. As I have generic code for all the users. Next to that a fix is coming soon, so I rather spend time on that.
That it still works for you means that something is not patched on your side. Eufy rolled out a patch for these thumbnails due to the privacy concerns. So it’s only a matter of time until your thumbnails are encrypted too.
Not anymore, as I updated the Homey app to show a fallback image
Still doesn’t explain why it worked for you though.
But in the next version: I’ll catch the images check if they are encrypted if not send them trough, otherwise decrypt them.
So even if your system still works like the old way it will work
@CyberSponk yeah probably because of the latest news articles that they had footage/thumbnails in the cloud. (for notification purposes) They can’t hold on to those promises. (They never did)
I still like the brand and don’t really worry about the privacy part. I have outdoor cameras luckily.
The price range is still low and you get decent quality.
If you really want privacy then you should get a nvr and local ip cameras. but thats a whole different level
for me the product is great. would try a homebase 3 but couldn’t find a dealer who sells only a homebase without cams.
is somebody is at home all cams are off. works perfect with your app with homey. at the moment i have i have conditional safety concerns.
it’s funny when somebody would have total privacy: he/her/others you shouldn’t have a smartphone or a bank account and it’s best to move into the wilderness. ;-).
What does this mean? Eufy encrypted more points in the dataflow the devices create, besides pictures and video? Endpoints that were not encrypted before? Eufy does this in the name of privacy?
This can cause errors in the current app, you say. In parts of the app that work good right now. Have you got some examples where Eufy did this?
Does this throw you back in the development of a new version of the Homey app? F.e. you have to check more whether endpoints are encrypted. Are those points predictable for you, or can they occur randomly?
Since this morning Homey can’t communicate with Eufy anymore. The repair option is not working either, after the captcha it just displays a message there are no new devices.
Same here, since this morning, red triangles on all my Eufy devices in Homey. I know you are already aware of the issue, but here is the diag report Martin if it helps you:
