[APP][Pro] Connect Solar Goodwe Inverter to Homey

Thanks for your continued support @Michal_Stranik , thet test version fixed issues I was having in regard to “cannot read data from GoodWe cloud dict key outputv not found” after first thinking why Homey Energy was not reporting actual solar energy. Sadly firs t though well im up to date so yeah should be all good.

Wish there was e better way of knowing a test version is even there in Homey … but that’s beside the point.

:tada: New Feature: Dashboard Widget is here!

A brand-new dashboard widget is now available in the test version! You can now monitor your GoodWe inverter’s key solar and power metrics at a glance directly from your Homey dashboard.

Try it out here:

I’m only starting to tinker with this stuff. I’m not able to connect mij Goodwe GW5000-ES G2… Could anyone help me a bit further? I downloaded the app but nothing works… Nor the modbus, nor the cloud…
Thanks

I don’t succeed either, I keep getting the same error.

I have the GW3600N-EH

With station id ff7985be-af33-4182-909e-d672d86ae8ea

Username password everything is correct.

I use SEMS+ what am I doing wrong?

I also still have the same issue when when adding the device via connection by cloud, see printscreen below.

Report: 365e5e22-2345-4807-8926-26960654a4fd

Model: GW5000-SDT-20

Connection via modbus, i understand this is not possible via merely the wifi module, needs to be via LAN correct?

My Goodwe is connected to the Wi-Fi and I can use Modbus.

I got it working now as well on the modbus. Did basically the same as always. However, it is on a dynamic ip adres, with an updated ip it connected instantly, unclear why, but it works now. I updated their device to static ip so it would connect everytime.

You have old version: 1.14.1
You have to update first.

What version of app do you have? If latest version is not working, please send report.

I use version 1.16.0

I’ve recently switched my 5500DT from cloud to GoodWe Modbus (DT/NS/MS/XS), which works like a charm to read the data!

Normally I used the SEMS + portal from Goodwe to turn the device off when energy prices are negative, however they’ve also seem to have broken their own integration at Goodwe…

Would it be possible to have the turn on/off commands for DT converters in the modbus connection via Homey? Then I could also automate it for the energy prices.

Good news — this is already possible! The GoodWe Modbus driver you’re using has two Flow actions built in:

Switch On (Allow connect grid)
Switch Off (Forbidden connect)
Just create a Flow like “when energy price < 0 → Switch Off” and another for “price back to normal → Switch On” — no update needed, it’s already in the app.

One thing to note: I haven’t had hardware confirmation yet that this works reliably on the DT series specifically. If you test it and it doesn’t actually stop/start the inverter, let me know and I’ll adjust it.

See the screenshots, the “Then” cards are only part of the [ET] Modbus driver not the [DT / …] driver. I assumed I needed the [DT / …] driver for my 5500DT, or can I also use the [ET] one?

Good catch — and you’re on the right driver, no need to switch. The DT/NS/MS/XS and ET drivers talk to genuinely different register maps (different addresses, different default Modbus unit id), so the ET driver’s on/off cards wouldn’t work correctly on a 5500DT even if you paired it that way.

The reason those two Flow cards only show up under ET right now is simply that they haven’t been built for the DT driver yet — not that your inverter can’t do it. I’ve confirmed the correct registers for your string inverter family are different ones (Start/Stop, not the ET registers), so I can add proper Switch On/Off actions to the DT/NS/MS/XS driver. Please try new test version.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a quick update and a candid reflection with the community.

Looking at the developer dashboard today, the GoodWe Inverter app is now running on over 2,380 Homey hubs. Seeing that many setups automate solar production, manage battery charging, and optimize home energy consumption every single day is rewarding.

However, there is another side to the numbers. Maintaining this app—reverse-engineering Modbus registers, diagnosing model-specific quirks across inverters, answering troubleshooting requests, and keeping up with Homey firmware updates—takes hundreds of hours of personal free time.

In the past year, across those 2,300+ installations, the project has received exactly 2 donations.

Developing community apps is completely voluntary. When an app works quietly in the background, it’s easy to forget that it isn’t built by GoodWe or Athom, but by an individual developer in their spare time.

If this app saves you money on your electric bill, reliably automates your solar flows, or makes your daily energy tracking effortless, please consider supporting its ongoing maintenance:

Even contributing the equivalent of a single cup of coffee makes a tangible difference in keeping motivation alive for future updates, protocol additions, and bug fixes.

Huge thanks to everyone who actively helps test and report issues!

Best regards,

Michal

Yes it works!

Whit this app I can finally read my Goodwe converter finally in Homey. Thank you :folded_hands:t3::folded_hands:t3::flexed_biceps:t2:

I cannot get it to work. It keeps rejecting my login and i’m 100% sure i’ve used the correct username/password…

Hi Alex,

I have nothing against other developers creating their own apps. Competition and new solutions are always welcome.

However, I’ve spent years developing, maintaining, and supporting this app, as well as building this community and helping its users.

I don’t think it’s appropriate to use another developer’s support thread to promote your own app, especially when you already have a dedicated thread for it.

You even started your post with “Sorry for the hijack”, so you clearly understood what you were doing.

Please respect the work of other developers and keep the promotion of your app in your own thread.

Thanks for understanding.
