[APP][Pro&Cloud] Shelly

I have asked Athom about it.

It seems the same issue where Athom previously mentioned it was cause by the code. But I’m not so sure about that. I cant see what is wrong with this code and the way it behaves where it sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t and only seems to affect some users. It’s all too inconsistent.

I also got an app crash today.
But I think it all works again after reinstall.
(Homey Cloud)

Hello Phuturist,

I use a lot of Shelly devices and they always work fine and stable. But now I have a problem. My four Shelly plus H&T devices worked fine till a few days ago. A few days ago all fours devices stopped sending the information to my Homey. I tried a reset of the Shelly App, a reset of the Homey and deleted and reinstalled the four Shelly plus H&T units, but they still do not update the temperature and humidity values in the Homey. In the Shelly Cloud App everything works fine.

The version of the Shelly App in Homey is V3.23.3 and the version of Homey Pro 2023 is 10.1.0. The number of a diagnostic rapport is 0C798490. Hope you can help me to fix this.

Regards Frans

@FraSmu Are you sure this is the diagnostic report of the Shelly app and not the report from Homey?

The report of the Shelly App in Homey is 5a2d6f2f-402d-4b21-9b2f-f57d45532844

Thank you Mike1233

No I cant, this is not an issue with the app but with the connection. Keep on trying and follow the steps from the troubleshoot guide to the letter.

By the way, you are aware the value is only updated is it’s changed? So it may take a while until you see update values.

Strange thing is that all other Shelly devices are connecting fine and all Shelly devices including the H&T units work fine in the Shelly Cloud. So I thing it must be a Homey or App related problem. Do you also come to this conclusion or did I miss something.

Thats what most users say but if it was an app problem dont you think more of the 17000+ users would complain about it? It’s something in your setup.

You cant compare battery operated devices with other main powered Shelly devices. These devices sleep most of the time. They wake up to send status, first send their status to cloud, afterwards over local websocket. They arent polled for their status as they sleep. The websocket is the only way the device can report it’s status. If you have a slow connection it’s able to send the status to cloud but sleeps before it was send over websocket. Or you did not follow the troubleshooting guide and during setup the outbound websocket wasnt configured correctly and no updates are send at all. But that cant be it right, because you have followed that guide to the letter per my instructions and double checked this is configured correctly.

Hi there,
i have setup a Shelly 1PM on my Shelly App, and I’ve tried to add a shelly device on Homey Pro but i got the following error: Timed out after 30000ms.

This is how i did:

  • Add new device
  • Select Shelly App
  • Select Any Shelly WiFi Device and then Connect

Then i got the first error "No devices have been discovered, so i did use the manual pairing

  • Added the IP Address without any username and password
  • Selected second generation
  • Clicked on Test Connection

And this is the moment where i got the second error.

Shall i change anything on the cloud? Both the shelly devices are under the same network (on a different SSID)

Could you please help me to understand what i am missing or what is the procedure?

Many thanks in advance!

Doesn’t sound like they are. If they are not discovered it means mDNS broadcasts are reaching Homey. If pairing times out it means Homey can’t reach the device. You should look into your network configuration.

The SSID must be the same of Homey even if the broadband is the same? (I have 2 SSID, one is the main where Homey is linked to, the other one is Guest)

@apellegrini Does the guest SSID network also have access to your own network?
On my router I have to enable or disable that myself.

A Guest network is meant to have no access to your network. So you can give guest access to internet, but not to your own network. Usually devices on the guest network can not communicate with each other, as it is designed to give internet access only.

Same SSIS does not equal same network. Guest network is usually isolated from main network. The symptoms you have are the usual result of this. You need to fix that.

When you give the guest network the same name as your network, you cannot tell them apart (easily).

Thanks for helping me, I will follow the troubleshooting guide to the letter as you suggested. Maybe I missed something the last time.

The app crashes constantly on Homey Cloud. Tried reinstalled it several times, and it works at first, but crash again in a couple of minutes.

I also have app crashes both yesterday and today.
(Homey cloud)

Edit: forgot to check app version for these craches, it was probbaly 3.23.3, i.e one version earlier than 3.23.4 that includes fixes for crashes.
