Hi. I have the same issue, i can connect the app to my Amazon account but the connection seems to be lost after several hour, so i have to restart the App several times a day

Any chance things will recover automatically?

Could reconnect my devices! - But this only worked within a short time period immediately after having restarted the app.
To be perfectly honest, as long as I’m not having problems (which I never had) I won’t be able to really look into this. All I can tell people is to disconnect and reset via the settings, restart the app and then connect again OR download the source code and debug the app themselves. Which is the whole reason why I created it in the first place, to have an open source alternative.
Hi, not sure if you’re still looking for feedback, but here is mine:
First, my main interest is to use my Echo devices to make voice announcements. I don’t really use them for music. I generally trigger announcements from a flow, sometimes advanced flow.
I previously used the ‘other’ Echo app but abandoned it because it kept disconnecting and there seemed to be no solution. It now looks like the developer has also abandoned the app!
For a time I then used Voice Monkey which worked fine but didn’t integrate into Homey in a very elegant way.
When I saw this app I thought it would meet or exceed my needs. I was right. I have never had a single problem with this app. I have a few different Echo models, and they all work perfectly. The screenshot shows my range.
I can give you more details about my setup if that would be helpful. Just let me know.

You can use “Tell <command>” with “Tell announce: my message” or use “<Say> <Message>” with “Announce my message”. You just need to be aware that all commands/messages need to be triggered from a specific echo. There is not running a command against a group (nothing I can do against that). So you will usually get something like “Announcement from Echo Living Room: My Message”
There is a difference between the two announce options you mentioned:
- If you use the say card and choose announce the spoken message will start with a announce jingle on the selected echo only.
- If you choose the option with the Tell card, the message will announced on all echos.
But that’s perfect!
Make sure you have the announcement function activated for the echos in the alexa settings on you smartphone. Otherwise you will hear nothing if you use the cards of the homey app and you will get no error message. But you can test to send an announcement with the alexa app on your smartphone without homey. If announcement is deactivated you will get an error message there.
I use a routine per announcement I use from Homey. So I start the routine from Echo A from Homey and it contains the announcement and the full list of Echo’s I want to broadcast over. This prevents me from sending the command to each Echo (and what often fails for a couple of them if you bulk send these commands). It also allows for easy maintenance if a Echo is replaced or new ones where added.

Gibt es irgendwie eine möglichkeit das man die die daten wieder automatisch einträgt um diese dann per flow zu starten wenn die verbindung zum amazon server abbricht ?
Also bei mir hält es kein tag lang und ich nutze die app für so ziemlich vieles daher ist das schon recht nervig irgendwie …
Ich habe meine alexa geräte alle in dem gleichen wlan netz wie der homey pro bzw ist der homey pro auch ans lan angeschlossen

Other Alexa app is working.
Now using both apps, automatically selecting the one that currently works.
Am I the only one currrently experiencing connection problems?
Would be interesting to know because it would give me some hint, where to look for a solution…

Es könnte sein, dass es gestern zwischenzeitlich kurzzeitig funktionierte, das kann ich aber nicht mit Gewissheit sagen.
Demnach: Weiterhin Fehlfunktion.

Same issue here: after update to 12.10.1 the connection to Amazon services won’t succeed.

To be perfectly honest with you as well, mate:
a) The title of this thread still contains the wording “…Looking for testers…”
b) You concurrently to another existing similar app created an app for a group of devices, that are of extreme importance to a hughe number of people, which you must have been aware of
…and now that there are problems (and the “looked for testers” tell you) you tell people “f* off and go fix the stuff yourselves”, while 99.9% of your users are definitely not able to do so? - Really?
I reseted the Echo App configuration and restarted the app. After that I tried to reconnect to Amazon services and succeeded. So my devices are available again. So the solution is as you described: Disconnect/Reset configuration, restart app, reconnect.
To be perfectly honest “mate”, the title also says “looking for contributors”. I created the app to solve my own problems with the other app and that I did. I could just as well have kept it to myself at that point, but I thought I would share the result of my work in case it could help other people or they would like to improve things.
But I’m not getting payed for this. So any support I give is already more then I would need to do.
So why do you think you are entitled to my personal free time to be spent on solving your issues?
