Please search the forum for that plug, there are issues with power measurements.
As Robert already mentioned, probably that’s the info about the firmware issue and power measurement issues - Hot oder Schrott? - #787 by DirkG (in German - you would need to translate it)
I decided to buy one and test it. I think the accuracy is pretty decent for power consumptions < 2 W. I was wondering how much a smart plug itself consumes, because 2 other methods, a Ledvance Wifi smart plug and an old school dumb power meter show zero consumption. The Inspelning shows 0.1 W for a Ikea Tretakt plug and 0.5 for a Ledvance, which seems pretty right to me. Anyway I am happy that it shows the power consumption with one decimal.
But above 1000W the last digit seems to be forgotten, so that 1234 W shows is measured as 123 W, just as noticed by other users. I don’t know if this is a bug in the Homey app, or in the Inspelning hard- or firmware.
When you have the old software version 2.4.34, it indeed provides incorrect measurement data. Unfortunately, I bought the Dirigera hub for this and updated my modules to the latest firmware version 2.4.45.
Now it does display the correct values. Unfortunately, I don’t have the means to verify the accuracy, but so far, I am very satisfied.
I indeed have the old 2.4.34 version. I assumed that the new firmware would already be installed on a newley bought device, after having been out of stock for a while. Is the only way to update to use the Dirigera hub, or are there alternatives?
Zigbee2MQTT supports OTA updates, I think ZHA (Home Assistant’s Zigbee implementation) and SmartThings do too.
But as far as I understand these options require a piece of additional hardware, is that correct?
Correct, but the Dirigera is a piece of additional hardware as well.
I may be simple, but what did Ikea say about selling you a device with an older & buggy firmware version?
I’ve read they’re not unwilling to help you out by either updating the fw or replace the sensor with an up-to-date model.
That’s exactly what I had planned to do now. It’s good to read that Ikea seems to be willing to solve this.
My goal was to be able to update without extra hardware via my Homey
Homey doesn’t support Zigbee OTA updates.
Actually - it does but it’s Athom secret and nobody knows how (as per of one podcast). Interestingly, no API, no SDK but it does… ![]()

So, the problem is at app dev’s end then?
Or are there Athome/Homey issues as well?
I did a workaround to upgrade my IKEA devices with RPi + HA + Zigbee stick but that feels like clumsy and unnecessary process to do…
An integrated process would make everyone’s life much easier even if was “hidden” on dev web pages.
If Athom is the dev of the app, then yes.
For 3rd party devs: No, it’s not. Documentation lacks. It’s up Athom to publish documentation.
I’ve been to an Ikea shop with my Inspelning plug. They said I have no right for support if the problem can be solved by buying a Dirigera hub. How they were willing to update the device for me. The employee who did this said it would take a while. After 15 minutes it was not finished. The employed happened to have started the same update in his home installation and he could see that was not finished after 4 hours (!). So this is not an option. I figured the best option was to buy a Dirigera and return it after having it used for just the update. Unfortunately they were out of stock.
Today I discovered that in the Homey insights the kWh is correct, as is the current in Amperes. I didn’t realize or see that before, and I have decided to stop the fight and accept this
What firmware does it say it has?
2.4.34
Solved! I just restartet my Homey Pro and everything is fine! ![]()

Hi! I see that Ikea Trådfri had an update 2 days ago and at the same time it stopped working for me. It says that the app is not available and when I try to restart it, I get that it is not installed… I have not yet tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but has anyone else experienced this? And what is the best thing to try? I have the devices connected directly to Homey Pro. No hub.
Will my Flows disappear if I uninstall and reinstall?
