Please add option to read govee devices from MQTT broker
There is allready a govee2MQTT option (docker container), which dicovers all local govee devices and publish them in your local MQTT broker
(the HA intigration for local govee allready uses this, they stopped using local lan).
Currently only missing is an app for Homey which also connects to that broker and adds devices to Homey using MQTT, exacly as the zigbee2mqtt app already does in Homey.
This way you have a fully local govee connection (not all govee devices support local lan anymore) and the network discovery is not done anymore by Homey but by the govee2mqtt server, so no more discovery issues or restrictions..
For example, in my current govee app I have in total 18 devices and 9 devices which suddenly cannot be discovered anymore by this govee app, the govee2mqtt server has no issues discovering them..
Being dependend on a 3rd party layer like the govee2MQTT broker does not meet my criteria to add that support. Since I do this in my free time as a hobby I can not be influenced by changes to other peoples components. Besides any problems will make people expect āofficialā support by me since its an official app. The mentioned use case is perfect for a different app in the Homey store.
I just released a new test version with the option to add local API devices by doing a direct IP scan, these are more reliable than the multicast broadcast for some of you. I also now remember the last discoverd IP address, on app load I try that one now first before searching for the device using the broadcast. In general this should result in quicker recovery if the Govee device still has the same IP, if it changed the discovery should use the multicast route and discover it later on and update the last known ip.
So all and all I believe this should result in a better local API devices experience.
Hello, Iām unfortunately having a recurring problem where the lights lose connection. After re-adding them, they are available again, but lose connection again after a while. Kind regards
Got anyone lights in the āsame groupā working on homey? With this i mean that it is possible to combine multiple lights in one group with homey. This way you could control multiple lights on brightness, but also scene or color control. Now i must change the color or scene from multple ledstrips one at the time in homey instead of at ones.
In the group you can also select a scene. This way all the lights in the group will play that scene as one. I have two ledstrip in that group in the kitchen. One at the kitchen cabinet and the other on the refrigerator. It would be great if the play the same scene at ones with one scene select.
