I have the same issue, came here to see if I was doing something wrong because I only just installed the app.
Since the app is developed by Athom, you should open a ticket to support.
The old flow card is deprecated, in that new one you enter the URL for the document. Open the Google sheets document in a browser and copy paste the adress (the hint in what you need is in the box, with greyed out text). After you have done that, you can click on “sheet” and you get a dropdown menu for the different sheets in the document.
Support responded with:
Unfortunately we had to make some adjustments to the Google Sheets app after a notification from Google that we aren’t allowed to use the readonly scope in the Google API.
We know this is a step back in the usability of the app, but Google made us do this.
Hmm, I suppose not to many active users for this app?
Is there any reason why just copying the address of the sheet (URL) would not work?
Here, the tabs are not showing up; the app has no contact with the sheet behind the link.
Or have I used the wrong URL?
Maybe you copied also some not visible characters? Like a return. Maybe check it bij copying it from the card and then paste in browser
Thank you, but no. It seems the app has lost the ability to connect to my google account. I deleted the existing “device” and tried to add anew. With the below result. My guess is that might be an issue with the app.
This was basically the before last reason why I keep my Homey. Now anything except “Flows” is literally better in HomeAssistant.
When creating a new “device”, I see a google login screen popping up. I can select the account and I am able to login. Once klicked on “next”, the popup screen goes away and the left screen stays on “Please log in on the …” Until the timeout message.
Anyone?
I Guess it is a known issue … that still isn’t fixed in 11.1.0-RC3
Not everything with Google is the connection with Google-assistant. Connecting to Google-drive is not a part of the Assistant.
What you can try is to remove the connection between Google and Homey on the side of Google (Manage connections between your Google Account and third-parties - Google Account Help). Maybe on that side something is not correct causing this behaviour.
Thank you. Your feedback is appreciated.
The correct link to remove the link between both is this one.
The below screen only popped up because this access was deactivated (device removed, link removed). Though your reply contained valuable information, it isn’t specifically linked to my request above.
Google needs permission for using sheets. Needed rights are:
For Google assistant you need other rights. If the access to Sheets is activated, only thing you need is the URL of the sheet. Also then there is no need to add a new-device for the sheet (as you can use as many sheets you want and this is not one per device). So maybe there is a hick-up between your account and the access you need. In that case probably best to make sure your account does not have that permission anymore.
OK, thank you. So if I understand this correctly, being stuck at the below screen when creating a google sheets device is an indication of missing access rights? i must say I find this very unlickely, but I will dig into this.
Edit
In the access rights, Google sheets isn’t even mentioned. Which makes sense since the Google Sheets App in Homey is stuck at the login screen (see the above).
I did not say or even suggest that missing rights is the problem. I just asked you to check. This because adding the device is only setting the necessary rights for the service. As you already had those before it was something you could check.
Since you replied to my post, i think that i can reply, even tho you don’t have any question for me. I have tried to delete the GoogleSheets component in my Homey, added the Google Sheets component again. Copied the URL for the document, selected the proper sheet. I do not know what is going on in your end.
Thank you everybody. Much obliged. I have it up and running now.
Full disclosure: Athom’s answer to the timeout errror message (Post 67).
Epic.
First I was looking for this app to use it as a data array possibility.
Sadly you could not read back.
Then I realise that I could use it for a problem I had with rounding off numbers.
Because I needed to compare lot of data in a time line.
If you calculated that in two time frames, quarters and hours, you may not find big rounding differences.
After learning first how this app needed to work, I found my thinking flaw.
In the future I shall use this tool more.
You can put a lot of data in one place to see the connection, or the lack off, better.
Now I use formulas to see the results and I have to track them down.
Then I try not to come be need the last row but still the next line is starting some times not on the beginning of the next row any more.
For now it’s not a problem maybe later it is.
Have someone also get a email from Google Clouds.
That the free periode will ended over 7 days.
Then you work is lost.
They want that you activated the full account.
Then a lot of text where I can’t find what the price Google Sheet is and what you can do then.
My guess would be it is in relation with Google Services App voor Homey | Homey not for Google Sheets.
That app I don’t use.
Google Sheet now for a few days and I love it.
Losing the data is not the problem now because it did the job by a flow problem.
That is what I hope to do a next time if needed.
If you can have only one free periode, then the app is useless.
