Hi everyone, I’d like to share a quick update following our great conversation with the Aqara team at IFA.
In the past, supporting new Aqara devices right at launch has been a challenge, mainly because we didn’t always receive samples in time and Aqara devices often rely on custom Zigbee clusters. This meant we had to reverse-engineer them before adding support.
Going forward, we’ve agreed with Aqara that both @TedTolboom and Athom will receive upcoming products in advance, along with the proper documentation. This way, we can ensure new devices are supported out of the box as soon as they hit the market. Please note there’s still a backlog of older devices we’ll address first, but once that’s done, new releases will follow much faster.
On top of that, we’ll also be working together with Aqara to bring camera support to Homey in the future.
Both Aqara and Athom are committed to making things easier for our shared users, and we’re excited to take these next steps to make the smart home better together!
