Oh wow that was super fast

just got back home and looks like homey already pushed it out of test. haven’t tried it yet. ill try either tonight or tomorrow after work. there’s a bit involved since i reconfigured my flows and reset 1 out of the 3 trisensors.

I’ll probably need to manually update the aeotec app somehow since its still showing 3.14.1 at the moment.

hopefully your issues are resolved @Giovanni_Dienstmann

It still shows only 3.14.1 for me. I’ve turned on automatic updates again, just in case it reaches the servers tonight.
Otherwise, how do we manually update it? I tried restarting the app but that didn’t do it.

Yup just install the app again and should just manually update to the latest. Just did it and updated to the latest version

Appears to be working well so far. Haven’t gone to trigger the sensor but appears the temperature and luminance values have changed already.

Now it all works perfect! :raised_hands:t2:

i had to restart my homey pro and at one point i had to remove the battery to turn off 2 of the 3 trisensors as one of the 3 sensors was not triggering. other than that i managed to get all 3 of my trisensors back up and running.

How far can the aërQ Temperature & Humidity Sensor be from HomeyPro2023 to work?

I have the sensor one floor higher, but it looks like it doenst give any data every 15 minutes. When I put it next to Homey Pro, it does work.

The Homey Bridge is on the same floor as the Sensor, but that doesnt improve it.

I even want the Sensor 1 floor higher (so 2 floors higher than homey pro 2023), how can I achieve this? Do I need to build a Z-Wave mesh?

Since I have Philips Hue on all floors, would it be better to get a humidity sensor on Zigbee?

I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

Regards.

Yes you should. I have one Aeotec humidity sensor far from Homey and it works just fine with a solid z-wave mesh.

That’s another alternative, but only if your Philips Hues are direct paired with Homey and not via the Hue bridge. The bridge forms his own zigbee mesh.

Thanks for your reply,

Does the Homey bridge help with a solid z-wave mesh? Cause I my case it aint working next it, could it be settings?

Is there any other way of creating it? I don’t have any experience in it. As I can read multiple z-wave devices are helping. But it would be strange having to buy multiple devices just to build a solid mesh.

All non-battery powered zwave/zigbee/thread devices are repeaters. Since you said the aerq sensor works when closer to the hub but not where you want it seems your signal isn’t getting where you want it. You can try waking the aerq up by pressing the button once. Or try relocating it in a different part of the room. But it seems you need to add a non-battery powered device. Like a zwave smart plug (easiest cheapest way), or zwave wall switch, etc. I’ve also had disconnects after relocating the device. Say the device has latched to node 1 and you move it and node 1 is gone, but node 2 is near by… it takes time for the mesh to find it.

The theoretical range is about 300ft (~100m) in all directions, not just on the same floor). You’ll never get that in real world in a house with things, so assume about 1/2 of that.

Zwave operates at 800 to 900 mHz range depending on what county (which sucks) but the lower frequency bounces and penetrates walls better than higher frequencies. Zwave tends to give better range.

Zigbee operates at 2.4ghz WiFi frequency, as the same around the world. It’s cheaper than zwave but it operates in a crowded frequency so the range tends to be more of an issue where other 2.4ghz devices are around. .

Thread is the newest, known for better self-healing, and Matter. But industry adoption has been an issue. It’ll take time for thread to be more wide spread.

Which to use? Well, all of them! Put thread off a bit but it’s likely you’ll be forced towards thread eventually.

So your device seems far closer than 20m, it should work?! Well, you talking about radio which you can’t see. It’s hard to tell how it’s going behave. It can go through walls, bricks, metal, glass. But fringes and holes happen. A mesh fills the holes.

hello, have someone this sensor?
i have lot of them but unfortunately when i restart homey (unplug cable and plug back) homey dont see any from my sensors during about 40 minutes. not only one but all. so my light in wc, gang are off. there is any wallswitch just homey can control this lights throught shelly. can someone try this home, if i am alone with this problem or maybe we are more people. thank you

This morning Homey software was updated and the Aeotec app was crashed, after restart of this app, all was working fine again.

anyone had any ongoing issues with trisensors? ongoing battle with signal and/or battery life. i suspect signal is the cause of my battery life. some of my trisensors are not responsive till i re-insert the battery to restart them. i’ve tried adding more z-wave powered devices so that i have more repeaters but i suspect it will try its best to go to the homey pro hub first. i would have thought if it cant then it would try one of the repeaters. z-wave powered devices/repeaters are placed well enough that they dont lose connection at all.

my homey pro hub is in the middle of the house. trisensor’s are on the opposite sides of the homey pro hub. oddly enough the trisensor near the front door has no issues. i’ve also got multisensor 6’s a bit further away and i’ve had minimal issues with signal/battery life.

near my homey pro hub is the kitchen. i wouldnt have thought z-wave would have issues going through the kitchen. i know 2.4ghz would have more interference from what ive heard and read but appears to be more stable than z-wave.

i think i saw on one of the homey forum posts that the z-wave range isnt the greatest. i believe i even saw a response saying it would be only a few metres. then again it doesnt make sense for my other 2 multisensor 6’s which would still require to go past the kitchen to reach it.

also tried leaving my homey pro hub off for an hour or so. i was hoping it would re-configure the network or something that would improve them overall. both on the same firmware version also.

had these on my previous hub which is an aeotec hub. had no issues. even had the aeotec hub in the same spot as my homey pro hub.

tried different brands of batteries. one brand was advertised to have more mAh. didnt make any considerable difference. i’ve honestly spent so much on replacing the batteries the past year i could have tried a different model.

im on the brink of literally removing these 2 trisensors and replacing it with the new ikea motion sensor that has luminance. i don’t have issues with any of my zigbee devices. i’m not even sure if its worth reaching out to aeotec support.

if anyone has any suggestions i could try i’m willing to give it a go.

i did see homey pro stable update of v12.3.0 which mentions the below in their changelog:

Z-Wave

  • Improves communication stability with S2 devices.
  • Fixes an issue that could cause associations not to be set on the device properly.

one of the trisensors has died again. for some reason i had to add the device all over again. left it with default settings. we’ll see if this new update does anything.

Hi all Aeotec users.

I would like to give short information about the firmware OTA update of Z-Wave devices with Homey App.

Even if Emile has pointed out a theoretical possibility of integrating an update function for the individual apps, it does not mean that this will be implemented. Unfortunately, there is no effort on Homey’s part to make this easy for developers. Reference is only made to the Z-Wave SDK, which describes the necessary commands for firmware updates. Even Homey cannot describe how this should look in detail in Homey. In view of the resources required and the additional costs for each individual app developer, the implementation will probably not happen.

There will be no integration in the Aeotec app without the help of Homey.

To update devices, you can use the option with a Z-Wave stick as a secondary controller across all manufacturers.

Hi,

when will the Smarthings button get official support so it can be added with all functions?
Should be a easy one to get live? Was it forgotten when implementing the rest of the Samsung smarthings branded devices?
