[APP][Pro] Medication Reminder: reminders until the medication is taken, stock tracking and reports
Medication Reminder keeps track of who takes which medication and when. At the planned time it starts a Flow. If nobody confirms the dose, it keeps reminding, alerts a caregiver, and finally records the dose as missed. It also follows the stock, warns before a medicine runs out, expires or a course ends, and makes reports per day, week, month and year.
Free, no account, nothing leaves your Homey.

How it works
A dose goes through a few steps, and you set the minutes per person:
- Due: at the planned time. Everything one person takes at that moment comes in one message: “Time for your medication, Anna: 1 tablet Metformin 500 mg (with food) and 2 drops Vitamin D.”
- Reminder: after a number of minutes, repeated as often as you want.
- Caregiver: still not taken after, say, an hour? A separate trigger, meant for a message to someone else.
- Missed: after the time you set, the dose is recorded as missed.
A flow can also start a chosen number of minutes or hours before the planned time, for example to take an injection out of the fridge in time.
You confirm a dose with the Taken button on the device, the dashboard widget, the app settings, or any Flow. So a button next to the pill box, a contact sensor on the medicine cabinet or a voice command can confirm it too. Taking it a little early counts for the coming dose; a dose confirmed shortly after “missed” still counts as taken.
Snooze, pause (for a holiday, without lowering the percentage) and undo are all there.
Reports
Per person, over a day, a week, a month or a year:
- the share of doses taken, with missed and skipped doses
- the figures per medicine, so you see which one gets forgotten
- a chart per day, or per month for a year
- a comparison with the period before
One sentence sums it up, ready for a notification or a speaker: “week 43: Anna took 19 of 21 doses (90%). Missed: Metformin 500 mg (2). 4 points better than the period before.”
The app can make the reports by itself on the last day of each period, at a time you choose, and put them in the timeline. Open them any time on the Report tab of the app settings, in a dashboard widget, or with a Flow card.
What it does
Schedules
- Every day, some days of the week, or every few days
- Several times a day, each with its own amount (half tablets too)
- Start and end date for a course
- “As needed” medicines with a maximum per day and a waiting time between doses; the app refuses an intake that comes too soon, with the reason
- Tablet, capsule, drops, puffs, injection, ml, sachet, patch, spoonful; before, with or after food
Stock
- Counts down with every intake
- Warns once when the stock lasts fewer days than you set, and again after a refill
- Warns before the expiry date and two days before a course ends
- Refill with one tap (pack size) or a Flow
Devices
- Person: status, next dose, the time and number of medicines of the dose to take now, taken today, percentage over 7 and over 30 days, days in a row, and a Taken button
- Medicine (optional): stock, days the stock lasts, last taken, and a Taken button
Dashboard widgets
- Medication today: the list of one person, with buttons
- Medication report: a week, month or year with a chart
- Medication stock: every medicine with the days it still lasts
- Medication of everyone: one line per person, with a Taken button
App settings: Today, People, Medicines, Report, Log and Help, plus a backup you can export and import as text.
Timeline notifications per person, for the steps you choose.

Getting started
- Open the app settings, add a person under People and their medicines under Medicines.
- Add the person as a device: Devices, +, Medication Reminder, Person.
- Make a Flow with “It is time for medication” and send the message tag wherever you want: your phone, a speaker, a lamp that changes colour.
The Send a test button on the Today tab fires “It is time for medication” right away, so you can try your Flows.
Privacy and a word of care
Everything stays on your Homey. The app has no account and sends nothing to the internet. It keeps the log for 35 days and the figures per day for 13 months, for the reports, in a compact form: a year of two people with eight medicines takes about 70 kB.
Medication Reminder is a memory aid, not a medical device. It gives no medical advice and does not check doses or interactions. Follow what your doctor or pharmacist says.
Available in English, Dutch, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Polish.
Changelog
1.3.1: the dashboard widgets open at their full height right away, also after switching back to the Homey app.
1.3.0: the Person device shows the time of the dose to take now, or of the next one, and how many medicines it has. A flow can use them to find back a to-do item it made earlier.
1.2.0: a new trigger card, “Medication is due in … minutes or hours”, per person, per medicine and for everyone. Thanks to Andy for the idea.
1.1.1: new photos for the Person and Medicine devices, and the device names in all ten languages.
1.1.0: reports per day, week, month and year with a chart, the figures per medicine and a comparison with the period before, sent at a time you choose. Three new widgets: report, stock and everyone. The caregiver is named in the alert, and the stored data takes far less space.
1.0.0: first version.
