As of roughly a week and half ago, my ZS18 motion sensors have stopped communicating to my Homey Pro.
All of them have fresh batteries. I have factory reset all of them. Removed them from my Homey Pro. Reconnected them. Blue light on the device blinks when there is motion so the device itself seems to be working.
However, within a few minutes reconnecting them to my Homey Pro they all show like this in Homey Developer tools. Unable to Heal or Test as I get errors on both actions.
I did manage to get them working for apx. a day by unplugging and then plugging back in my homey pro from power. However, they stopped sending alerts again. Last alerts from sensor, 9 days ago.
Are these Zooz sensors garbage or is it something else? I haven’t seen any updates to the Zooz app since Jun18 so an update wouldn’t have caused this suddenly. Is anyone else having an issue with their Zooz ZS18’s?
This probably is due to the fact battery powered devices save battery life, by quickly entering ‘sleep’ mode when idle.
You’re supposed to wake the device by shortly pressing the pair button, and keep doing that every other second during the Heal and Test actions
Same. It shows “unreachable” because the sensor is in sleep mode.
When you shortly press the sensors’ pair button, it should show this state again, maybe “online” as well:
.
No clue why they stopped reporting events after running x weeks without issues.
Maybe bad (new) batteries?
This is just an indicator, it says nothing about actual battery quality.
I don’t say it is the issue, but it can’t hurt to try an other brand, to rule out possible battery related issues.
My Zooz zse400 700 sensor is doing the same. I have a bunch of sensors (aeotec, ecolink, zooz and others) in my setup, but the zse40 700 and zse11 800lr have given me a bunch of trouble with running for a day or so then just giving up.
You can see the light flash when there is motion, it just doesn’t reach the homey.
Likely a range issue as the zse40 in particular refuses to join the z-wave mesh. There are z-wave outlets and range extenders between it and the homey but won’t connect to them even after a full reset,
Have gone through 2 new battery changes in a week just in case, but no change.
The 800lr did eventually find the mesh and works now though I’m afraid to touch it.
I removed the motion sensors from my Homey Pro and then reconnected them without authentication using all 0’s when prompted.
Zooz support recommended to include the sensors with no security. After doing so all my motion sensors seem to be functioning properly. I did let support know that this is something they should look into, as most users probably bought these sensors for its S2 security.
