Zigbee rewrite- petition

Sure hope it comes soon. Any date yet known to someone?

Soon, that’s the only known eta

If the firmware 5.0 does not solve the Zigbee problem, I can only give everyone the following advice:
Run all Hue over the Hue Bridge. Integrate everything else with the Conbee 2 stick. The result is a completely stable Zigbee network. It is a pity that Athom has not yet managed to create a working zigbee. Before I got upset every day, that was the solution for me.
Let’s wait for 5.0 and give Athom another chace. The others can do it too …

50% off om Homeseer came first.
104 signatures on the pention and athom wont reply any mails so its time for me to move on…

Of course they won’t reply, it’s time wasted. Whatever answer they give, there will always people be whining it’s not the answer they wanted to hear. And that negativity here is not an invitation at all.
So, go for Homeseer and be happy. :+1:

Let me startoff with this, because this is what bothers me the most. Do you really mean this? My friend, I check the forum every day to see if there has been something posted that I can use.. scanning all the messages, every day, takes me about 30 minutes. Don’t go there, talking about a full time job. Besides, this is supposed to be the official forum. If I was working as a Homey developer and I saw the discussion like the problems with the BLE and, for example, the Flora sensor that was killed by it… I would help solve this matter and reply!

I’m a entrepreneur.. I have been thinking about their way of selling and making money a lot. The way Athom is doing this right now, is bst. Selling devices for top money to create cash and pay for expenses, but once sold… Screw you users! Not replying normally on support questions, not reading forum posts, working on a important core change for over two years… I understand why, therems no money. But iId rather pay 10,00 euros a month and see them actively scanning these forums, solving problems and create cool stuff then be were we are today.

But no, they’ve choosen to create a Appstore-like platform. Giving the tools to the community. I think it’s pretty cool that I can built something and others can use it, but when their core fails and developers are given bad reviews because they failed, that’s just sad. If you choose to built a community and make money selling your devices with apps built by others, then take care of your community actively. Support them, maybe even let them make some money with payed apps. Be a gentlemen.

Right now, I feel screwed by Homey. The problems that I encounter at this moment are problems that, apperently according to these forums, have been around for years. But also even the last update is giving me troubles with my equipment. I did not pay top money to be fixing flow problems all they long.

Oh, and looking at the Dutch ebay ‘Marktplaats’, it seems that a lot of people feel the same way about this device.

Trustpilot was the only way to get their attention.

Yes I do mean this, scanning the forum is something entirely different then responding to everything.
I’m following (and moderating for some time too) this forum since Homey is out to the general public (read: many years)
I have a full time job besides this (but I’m not the only moderator either), but am still am busy more then 2 hours of my day to fix any mistakes users make (wrong language, not following rules, accidentally adding personal data to their messages, etc) and respond to things that I know about so that I can help people, which definitely isn’t on all topics as I don’t know all (which Athom wouldn’t be able to do, they would have to respond on every topic as that is then expected), and that doesn’t even include languages I can’t read without Google translate.
And don’t forget, this is increasing constantly.

Everything that they do say should also be reviewed, as it will be used as example for other topics and if they say something that isn’t entirely right, or was understood wrong by the user, they will get burned to the ground, as that is already happening on the support mail side.

And am glad I don’t have to deal with all the emails that come in besides this, as that is way more then what is going on on this forum (not even half, probably way lower then half of Homey’s userbase, is actively on this forum).

They would have a lot less users if people need to pay for apps, lots of developers have a donation link, including myself.
But the last time I received a donation for all my hard work (including behind the scenes lot of people don’t even know about), in my own free time, has been over 1,5 years ago, is this also an issue of community people?

Sure people have issues, but there are also a lot of people that don’t have (much) issues too, it isn’t like Homey’s user base is only a few 1000 people like you probably are assuming now, that has been past for several years now.

Just look on marktplaats for many devices in your household, you’ll see the same.
Google reviews, you’ll see bad reviews for most of them too.
As that is what people do, respond if something is wrong, and most only respond if something is good, if they are offered (a chance) money.

I wouldn’t say Athom doesn’t make mistakes, of course they do, and sometimes they don’t learn about it either, but I guess a lot of companies have that.

Two apps (Ikea and Sonos) have been updated by Athom itself. In the testfase, it stated a rewrite for v5 if I am not wrong…
Perhaps there’s something coming? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Let’s hope it’ll come soon, because it also means that they basically stopped developing the SDKv2 (firmware v4 and earlier) versions of the apps.

And that all S1 speakers are not supported anymore. Nice going!

“All Sonos S2 speakers are supported.”

I’m still on Sonos S1 and my speakers ( mix of 2x Play -1 and 2x sonos One )still work with the new app version.
So far so good…

removed my experimental settings. Still it says that you need to do a factory reset.

Enable experimental updates to help test new versions of Homey before they are released to everyone.
These updates might be unstable, and after enabling you cannot revert without doing a factory reset.

I hope it is not necessary

So there is a big update coming but please do NOT update unless u want most of ur Zigbee devices to stop working at all untill the community developers are ready to fix their apps.
We (Athom) are ready, rest has to see if they can catch up in time.
:fu:
Ow. Is it Homey app developers not ready (like stated in the mail) or is it community App developers not given enough time to reach the new standards??

A reset is not necesary anymore since 4.0! It was an old warning.

Experimental updates can now be disabled from Homey Developer Tools
