Zigbee firmware update in Homey OS v13.5.0: What’s new or improved?

I have 40 or so units. This isn’t the first time Athom does this. They have no beta testing at all?

They do. You can join from the Developer Tools website if you want to (Settings → Experimental updates)

I am keen to learn what Athom’ s solution was. Can you share?

They responded quite fast the first time, and told me to send a diagnostic report code, then they went silent (I told them I had already tried the useul stuff people mention on the forum, checking wifi channel, clean install software with hub plugged into pc, moving it away from wifi router if close.. then They stopped responding (I sent a couple more responds to them without them getting back to me) Finally I tried repairing a device, and that worked, so I repaird all 40 I have, then I sent them another reply, telling them I resolved it with repairing the devices, in which they immidietly responded back that “It’s good u figured it out, we will close the ticket now”
It was first the following days I noticed Zigbee beeing laggy / unstable Not turning on/off my automatic lights everythime it should.. Then I saw others starting to report the same, so I’m currenlty just waiting for an update for zigbee, and also still debating if I should open another ticket.

…just citing myself. Its so obvious and such a shame. The forum ist full of word for word identical replies from Athom´s “support” across a vast variety of issues.

I have been in IT business for over 35 years and have seen larger companies hitting the wall hard with this kind of ignorant behaviour and vanishing into the blue not long after.
Let´s hope Athom come to their senses before this happens.

I just don’t understand at all why you are constantly complaining about Athom support (or rather your experiences with Athom support) in almost every single topic about a bug. This is a community forum, what can we even do about it (as community members)? Athom doesn’t read this forum, so all of your complaints about Athom should go here: Support | Homey

After repairing all units the Zigbee network is a lottery. Sometimes the lights turn on sometimes they dont. It’s very unstable and repair again dont make a difference. This is over all brands of ziggbe i have.

Looking on the brighter side, once Zigbee 4.0 becomes a bit more mature, these sorts of issues should be a thing of the past, as self healing becomes a core component of every network

It’s one of my favourite aspects of Thread

Wifi and Zigbee 3.0 used to drive me round the bend. Every update or major network adjustment I made during my renovation, would result in a lot of maintenance to repair devices

And the beta dont fix anything about the Zigbee problem 13.5 caused. Still can’t use devices that needs instant reporting. Thermostat work since it dont matter if it’s late in report. But door sensors and movment sensors are all useless now.

After the update my entire zigbee network collapsed. Nice…

Have you opened a support ticket with Athom?

Guys, you have to flood them with tickets, because the last couple of “updates” have been nothing than scandalous!

I myself do strictly turn off auto update everywhere and I can only recommend to everybody to do the same. I have not dared to update Homey for over 7 months now and can only congratulate myself for it, because my system is still stable with only the usual flaws.

Does that mean that your Homey runs a version older than v13.4.1, released mid August? That version contains a critical security fix, for a vulnerability identified by an external researcher. Though they did not publish what the exact vulnerability was, Athom was reaching out actively to users not having installed the update. So it seems to be important.

How can you even know that if you didn’t update your Homey in 7 months?

Read the forum and you will know.

Couldn´t care less. I like my home functioning.

Yes, but the chances of something actually happening vs. the very real chance of his Zigbee networking going down, causing hours and hours of stress and frustration to fix it

After what happened to me with 13.3 with Thread, I’d probably choose Pete’s stance too

No I haven’t, and yes I should have. I wanted to focus my limited time on reconnecting all devices :slightly_smiling_face:

I also don’t update automatically, but did it when I had the time.

Yes please do open another ticket if your problem isn’t resolved. I am now thinking or reinstalling the entire Homey bacause nothing in ziggbee works anymore. It sucks.

Sooo many hours setting up my system and the zigbee is a nightmare. Had not a single issue before 13.5 and have been running with the ball first and then the 23 model.

I moved the hub to the other side of the house, just to be sure there wasn’t any interference where I had placed it.. It actually worked quite good there so I thought I might have something that was making a mess (noise), but! after yesterdays update to 13.5.3 Zigbee has become unresponsive again :stuck_out_tongue: So I’m back to thinking its a homey problem. I’ll give it a couple days, then back to support..

A few days wont do anyting i think. I have been on this for a month. Tried everyting i think. Reset network. Backup and restore the homey. Even bought a new Rasp.pi comp module and replaced the original since it was low on ram. Nothing helps. Works from time to time and it’s embarassing that it hasn’t been fixed.
