I am a previous home assistant user and looking to start moving my devices over to my Homey pro. I thought I would start with one of my Yale YRD Locks. I have a YAle YRD156 Z-Wave Lock
I’ve installed the Yale Digital Lock App. I hit add the device and it adds the Z-Wave device but it says “unknown device”. The Yale App says the YRD256 is supported, and the 156 is the same lock just has the built in Z-Wave module instead of the 256 which you have to add it in. They are essentially the exact same lock.
Does anyone have any idea hwo to get it into Homey Pro? Sort of a frustrating start to trying to move things over.
That doesn’t matter for Homey: when the internal identifier is different (which in this case it probably is), it’s a different device.
You’ll have to ask the app developer to add support for your lock to their app. Contact details can usually be found at the bottom of the page on the app store.
It doesnt seem like the app developer seems to be doing anything with that Yale app for homey. I submitted a request but I’m not holding my breath.
Are there any 3rd party work arounds? With home assistant there was always a way to get a device in. It just seems like unless it’s a supported device you are just strait shit out of luck
That’s usually how it works for Homey, especially for Z-Wave/Zigbee devices, unless the brand also offers a hub that has Homey support (either through an app or using a common protocol like Matter, but with Matter you’ll run into the issue that Homey’s implementation is quite limited and not all features of the device might be supported).
