I am looking for a good dehumidifier that can be fully controlled with Homey.
I have now searched the entire internet but only come across the brand Duux and Xiaomi.
Both are just not really suitable for our large living room.
Are there people with experiences of another brand?
Not all the brands are for sale in NL.
I have a Clean Air Optima CA-706 that, like many appliances, is Tuya based. And therefore controllable by the Tuya app for Homey.
In Homey I only manipulate it on/off, but presumably you can do more with it (set the dehumidify strength etc). Works OK…most of the time. Unfortunately the Tuya app is broken at the moment. But let’s hope that’s fixed soon.
They did have a black friday sale the previous year. So it might be worth to wait until then.
Ah thanks, I’ll look into it. I have read a lot about the Tuya app, but what exactly it does and how it is put together is still unclear. Does the app also work with other “non-smart” dehumidifiers?
Isn’t the definition of “smart” that it can be controlled with an app?
Surely there must be others… Anyone?
Still happy with the Clean Air dehumidifier? I’m looking at the CA-708 Smart to use in my basement. Glad to hear it’s exposed to Tuya
It actually turned out not be that great. The internal hygrometer has broken (I think) because it now always shows 0 on the display. Not that I use it because I rely on an external one and turn the dehumidifier on/off via Homey based on that. But still, it should work. Next to that it goes into a defrost state (fan only mode) for a while every 10 minutes or so once the ambient temperature drops below 18°. Which is kind if ridiculous, my other (dumb, non-homey) Delonghi dehumidifier doesn’t do that. It might be needed at very low temperatures, but surely not at 16-18°. It also leaks a bit on the floor. And the actual collected water seems to be a lot less then my Delonghi which is alot smaller. So all in all I wouldn’t recommend it any longer, and advise to search for another brand that has Tuya inside it.
Well, that doesn’t sound good at all. I’ve used a Qlima dehumidifier until it died after years of service, and I saw the Delonghi one as well, but I would like to connect directly to the device this time and as you said the Delonghi doesn’t do that. I came across the Eeese brand of dehumidifiers, they specify Tuya Smart and Google Assistant compatibility and offer 5 years warranty. Just putting it out there in case others are looking as well.
