Hello, New to homey, but do come from a programming background. This is a query of how to have an advanced flow begin from the “When Temperature Change” card. This advanced flow works as intended when manually tested. But will not run on its own. This means, even when the temperature from the reporting device does change, the flow does not run.
I have attached a screen shot of the flow in question.. this is a testing flow so not much meaning behind it. What I have noticed is the the flag icon on the starting card says. “When this card starts, the values of these tags will become available.” This tag does not update.
Hoping for some direction on this one.
Thanks,
Richard
PS - any of the other discussion topics about advanced flows not starting seem to be in languages I cannot read.
What is the source of the #Temperature tag? Is the tag provided by the weather station device or the flowcard?
Start logging to timeline to verify what happened. Like
- Temp changed to <flow.temperature> after the when
- After executeflow check:
- Executeflow is False color should be yellow
- Executeflow is True Color based on temp
If temp has changed you would expect the color to be yellow or green at least. If thats happening most likely the temperature variable might be the wrong one.

The sheet below is logging every time Homey is updated by my temp-sensor.
At 6:11 this was almost one hour between updates.
Thanks for the repsonses so far.. I am very flummoxed how to add a timeline card into my existing flow.. I have done the following if that makes sense. So the flow adds a temperature reading into timeline every five minutes for now. Or should it be connected to the “when temp change” start card.
I have tested the existing flow and it will change the light depending on the temperature range logic I already have.. “ie if I change which colour based on a temperature it changes when run.”., but it will not run unless I run the flow manually - so the #Temperature from Weather Station is being updated, but will not activate the “when change card”
I am seeing the temperature change in the timeline. And if I run the flow from the “When Changes “ card it did update the light from one colour to the next.. but not on its own.. I will now wait till the temp is above 8 degrees to see if the light changes.. it just got sunny out so should be possible today
After setting up the logging.. it is now working.. i have no idea why. But thankyou for your support. Some of the suggestions must have had me tweak something I don’t remember tweaking!
Much appreciation. ,
Richard
