Using a Homey 2019 Pro AND Homey Pro 2023 in one house? (No master-slave config.)

Hi everyone,
I am currently using a Homey Pro 2019. Still happy with how it works. This Homey is positioned in a separate building in my garden. I am already looking for a while to Homey Energy developments which is only available for the Homey Pro 2023. I want to use the latter (only) for the energy related stuff (solar panels, inverters, battery, logging, et cetera) and keep the 2019 for the separate building (incl. The devices there, lights, camera’s, dedicated flows, et cetera).

Is there someone using such a set-up already? I am not planning to make a master-slave configuration, because that will not work (if I read correctly), but just want to have the two Homeys working next to each other and give them separate tasks and control different devices.

Any concerns wrt a configuration like this? Any thing to take account or should it work (as long as both can do their own dedicated job). It is possible to back-up both devices separately?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Best regards, Jan

Hello Jan,

With the HomeyLink app you can add (a selection of) links to devices from Pro19 to Pro23, ánd vice versa. It’s not master-slave, but remote control to and from the other Pro.
I use it with 2 Pro19 models, each now capable of controlling devices / read values & starting flows on the other Homey.
Not everything gets linked, like cam views.

Example:
Homey1, linked devices of Homey2:

Homey2, linked devices of Homey1:

Yes. When I’m correct, with the cloud backup supscription you’re allowed to backup 3 different Homey’s with the same owner account.

Besides this, with a Pro23 you can manually create offline backups using the USB-tool.

Hi Peter,
Thank you for your feedback.

Does this mean that I still can see/access all devices via one overview? Like in the zone overview as shown below? Or will it be divided per Homey? I guess that last option, but just to be sure.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards, Jan

I found indeed that I can back-up to a maximum of three Homey’s :-).

Hello Jan,

You’re welcome.

I just added Homeylink devices to a specific zone, but,
In theory you can add all Homey B devices to Homey A, in any zone you like, as if it were Pro A devices.
This way you won’t have to select Homey’s in the app >>> Except for when you need functionality / data which isn’t supported by HomeyLink.

In the meantime I ordered a Homey Pro 2023. As mentioned my current plan is to keep the Homey Pro 2019 being handling everything except the energy related devices and flows (for which I purchased the Pro 2023).

I am now doubting what is most efficient/smart to do… copy a back-up of the 2019 to the 2023 and then delete everything I do not need, or start with the Pro 2023 ‘from scratch’ and only install the devices and copy the flows that I need for the energy part in my house?

Any suggestions how you would approach this? Thanks in advance.

Best regards, Jan

Depends on the number of flows & devices you need @ Pro 23 I guess.
But, lazy me would restore a Pro 19 backup on the Pro 23 and then delete everything not needed.
When it turns out to be flaky / erroneous, then you still can reset the Pro 23 to factory settings, and start from scratch.

Hi Peter. That is indeed a very practical approach. I have e.g. quite some HomeWizard devices installed, so your approach is I expect the fastest way to have everything up-and-running. Then let’s go for Option 1
