Unable to migrate Homey Pro (early 2019) to Homey Mini 2026

I have a Homey Pro (early 2019) that I want to replace with a Homey Pro mini. I follow the procedure exactly, but I cannot get the new Homey to start loading the backup:

  • I make a backup of the old Homey;
  • I turn off my old homey;
  • I connect the new Homey to a wired network and switch it on.
  • click on Add Homey in thje App;

The Homey always goes into the mode to create a new house.

I tried:

  • Factory reset;
  • Update via USB;
  • Factory reset via USB;
  • Running new update;
  • Run night update first;

The USB tool does not work well on the homey either. It always gets stuck in verification mode and never completes it no matter how long I wait.

I don’t know what else I can do to get the Homey in the restore backup.

When looking at this post (same question) there’s no migration path from Homey Pro 2019 to Homey mini 2026. You will have to setup the mini manually :frowning:

That is very annoying and information that Athom should share before you purchase a new Homey

Thank you for your reply !

So in the meantime Selfhosted Server came out and I Wonder if I Can migrate to Selfhosted and then on to Mini.

Maybe

Unfortunately that’s also not (yet) possible, see this idea/suggestion topic.

I guess you could:

  • reach out to Homey Support
    Support | Homey

  • Or setup the mini as a new device. Linked topic has some suggestions to make migrating easier, like using the Web App ALT to export and import flows.

There’s no point in sharing this on a users forum. Contact Athom support to point them to your improvement suggestions.

I suggest to first inform yourself about the possibilities before a purchase (and making assumptions).

.

Sure you can:

BUT, you can’t migrate SHS to Pro mini.
1st there’s no cloud backup for SHS
2nd both systems are not compatible

How do you think / assume the systems are compatible?
