However, I think Homey doesn’t need Tuya at all as well. There is a community app to talk to some of the Tuya devices. And as long as we accept that that is as far as it goes, the current level of communication between the parties is ok.

I don’t mean that Homey specifically needs an “official” app, but I think (based on nothing ) the Tuya community app is one of the more popular/most used apps for Homey. So what if that didn’t exist, or would stop working?

Seems like Tuya (based hardware) is used a lot, new people are still coming to the forum to ask for help with the not working “official” Tuya app for their Pro or Bridge.
