⚡️The Homey Energy Dongle is now available

Did you play with Power by the Hour app already?
You can control anything driven by energy prices in all kinds of forms

And the Piggy Bank app app can automatically shut down preferred devices when a certain level is reached, to have the 3 biggest power peaks as low as possible.

Thanks, great tip but… I don’t think they support the following complicated use cases out of the box?

In Sweden we have:

  • Dynamic electricity price (monthly average kWh price) - unless fixed contract of course
  • Dynamic grid cost (flat fee plus based on kWh transferred)
  • Dynamic grid ”penalty” (average of 3 highest effect peaks in month * extra penalty price per kWh)
  • Tax on above items

YW!

Pbth fetches market prices automatically from your energy market, Sweden

With the “Daily E-ahead prices” device, which is being “fed” by those prices (fully automatic without flows), you can configure it to match your cost and tariffs. F.i. you can enter a fixed markup, like VAT:

You can also add the fixed Energy providers’ kWh markup (the flat fee for transport and management cost comes later)

All in one device:

Prices of today (and tomorrow):

Historic:

With the “calculating” device, called “Power Summarizer”, you can add fixed hourly, daily and monthly cost

Here can the Piggy Bank app be of use: designed with the Norwegian penalty system in mind:
When the power’s getting past a threshold, you can automatically have selected preferred devices turned off, in a preferred order (from not important to very important - the important ones need to be turned off as little as possible.

More and much more info in the app topics I posted earlier on.

Mine works without ext power after boot up.
I just put USB power in for 10 seconds, then i can remove it from the dongle after boot.

So tried to use the “Dynamic” pricing built in into Homey App. Unfortunately it can only handle 1 dynamic variable - spot price, and not additional and customized variables. Too bad…

I’m afraid the just (very) recently introduced dynamic price feature is still very basic, and probably initially aimed to the fairly simple dynamic tariffs in NL.

I can recommend the original, Power by the Hour app for a 100%, to build price driven flows with.
