Tasmota & Matter

Did anyone tried to connect a Tasmota device on Homey via Matter?

As I understood correctly, Tasmota does not provide Bluetooth Commissioning and only support “On Network Commissioning”

When I try to add a device on Homey, it will start searching for a Bluetooth enabled Matter device, thus never finding the Tasmota device.

Is there anyway to connect a WiFi enable Matter device on Homey?

I have some Silvercrest Matter-over-WiFi plugs that will pair with Homey. During pairing it initially shows a Bluetooth icon, which then switches to a WiFi icon, so I guess that after a while it will fall back to WiFi.

However, your issue might be related to Homey only being able to pair with certified Matter devices, which your device most likely isn’t, given that it’s running Tasmota.

Hm ok, for the Tasmota devices it stays on Bluetooth logo, and does not switch (Homey is on WiFi + Ethernet (not sure if that makes a difference))

Would be nice if it would be supported…

It might make a difference if Ethernet and WiFi are on different network segments.

I think the official response is “we’ll look into it”. Which probably means “don’t count on it”.

Both on same network, will try to disconnect the wire, see what happens.

So late reaction, but only on wifi (and forced to 2.4Ghz) still does not work, Homey seems to only try Bluetooth (at least that’s the little logo it shows when trying to pair). It does never switch to wifi…

I assume that you restarted the Tasmota device right before starting the pairing procedure on Homey? AFAIK Tasmota only has a limited time directly after a restart in which it will accept pairing requests.

It’s sorted now, was an issue with a custom compiled binary, the pre-compiled version works, well… it says the device Is not certified so it will not add it…
Ho does this work actually? Does Athom / LG need to add these devices in their list or something?

Homey periodically downloads a list of certificates from the CSA-IOT website.
