SORRY - Zigbee2MQtt

Sorry if this upsets people it is not meant to.

The question I have is if I set up Zigbee2MQTT is it the same as Zigbee2mqtt in Home Assistant. I have device in Home Assistant because they do not have an official APP and if I add them to Homey I am getting no features. They are downlights, bulbs, and Switches. I am in Australia and named devices as super expensive. So looked at devices from AliExpress. The devices run well I Home Assistant and I have tried adding them to my Homey Pro using both the available Home Assistant apps.

The downlights and bulbs are colour enabled (it was not much more to add the colour than just white). But the sites do their job and turn things on and off. But if I try to change the colours they just go off.

Am I trying to do something that will just not work…

I have tried to look at the existing threads, but they are so long it is hard to find the info I am looking for. So sorry to start another thread.

What’s the issue with HA Community app adding your light entity as light device to Homey?

With the Homey Zigbee2MQTT app, you can import devices from a Zigbee2MQTT system (standalone, Home Assistant, etc.) and use them with Homey. As far as I know, not all devices are supported, but smart lights work perfectly.

For more information and specific questions about the Homey Zigbee2MQTT app, please visit the corresponding app topic → [APP][Pro] Zigbee2MQTT - Use Zigbee devices via MQTT

If you mean by “if I setup Zigbee2MQTT” a stand-alone Zigbee2MQTT instance, running on an Rpi or NAS or something, then yes, that publishes the zigbee devices in the same way as the Zigbee2MQTT app (addon) does in HA.

You’ll need to add a MQTT broker and MQTT integration to HA in order to be able to use these devices in HA & a Zigbee2MQTT instance (without HA, install MQTT Broker & Client apps on Homey)

Then, you’ll be able to add the Z2M devices to Homey per Homey HA Community app and/or by the Homey Zigbee2MQTT Community app.

The stand-alone Zigbee2MQTT instance need that MQTT system in place as well.
Then, you’ll be able to add the Z2M devices to Homey solely by the Homey Zigbee2MQTT Community app.

Thanks for the information. It is really helpful
