Zigbee From two sources

So the situation I have is that some of my Zigbee devices have an app and some do not.

The main issue is my wall switches, they don’t. So if I use the basic Zigbee I lose the ability to use the different switches when more than 1 on the gang plate

So if I use either Zigbee devices imported from Home Asssitant using Zigbee2Mqtt or set up Zigbee2MQTT on my Homey Pro, will there be issues?

was hopeing Homey was the easier answer but not seeming that way.

Is setting this up in Homey easy enough? Not actually a lost cause when it comes to tech, but first glances seems this is going deeper than I am ready for

Which wall switches are you using? There’s a high chance that they’re Tuya-based, did you try the experimental version of the Tuya ZigBee app?

The whole idea behind a Zigbee2MQTT bridge is so that the device will only connect to one bridge. The bridge will then relay the signals through MQTT.
You can use either HA, or Homey Pro as the Zibee2MWTT bridge. I don’t think it will cause any problems. The only issue is that MQTT will not always be able to support all native features that a device might over over zigbee directly. That is just the limitation of MQTT in general.
That said, I think the best option would be to have your HA function as the bridge, as HA will sometimes offer firmware updates over zigbee, while Homey still doesn’t support that. If you want Homey to be the MQTT bridge, you would need an app like zigbee2mqtt, or MQTT Hub for that.

If Z2M supports a particular Zigbee feature for a device, it is supported over MQTT. That’s what Z2M does :man_shrugging:t3:

True, but that is a problem. Not all features of all zigbee devices are supported by Z2M. New Zigbee devices come to market every day, and Z2M just cannot keep up with all them. This a known issue from the start. A lot of devices and features are supported, but people still run in to this limitation. Not all devices are supported, and sometimes not all features of a device are implemented. Just a fact of life.

But whether or not the controller exposes devices using MQTT is irrelevant.

If you want full support for all your devices, you will need the official Zigbee hub from each brand of device that you have. Have 8 different brands? Have fun running 8 hubs, each with their own Zigbee network.

So yes, in theory Z2M will not support every device or every feature, but practically speaking it’s not really possible to do that anyway. Another fact of life

When it comes to device and feature support in a single controller, I cannot think of any other implementation that outperforms Z2M.

I don’t think I fully agree, or that we fully understand each other.
For instance, regarding the new and awesome Aqara FP300 sensor. Aqara has already put out native apps for their own hub, but also for HA and for Homey that support all of the features over zigbee, including advanced settings like sensitivity and custom range settings since dec 3 2025.
Meanwhile, the support of this device over MQTT relied first on Z2M to support for these features, which was done on November 15, but the Zigbee2MQTT Homey app still does not support all of these features. see: [APP][PRO] Zigbee2MQTT - #492 by Gruijter

This is why I said that you probably won’t run into any issues related to having only one zigbee hub that relays the signal over MQTT, but (delayed) device or feature support is something worth mentioning.

Of course, it’s also not said that every manufacturer will have such good support for new devices across all hubs like Aqara does either. Some devices might indeed have better support over MQTT.

Running multiple hubs (Homey, Hue, ThirdReality, eWeLink CUBE) here fine, as long as you have enough routers in each network and choose the correct ZigBee channel (spread over the bridges), you won’t run into issues

Ah okay, you’re talking about a Homey app, not about Z2M itself.

Sure, if that’s what you prefer. Personally I prefer having just a single Zigbee network that contains all my devices.

I also have most devices in the Homey network, but for some devices the manufacturer hub is just better (because they support FW updates and Homey doesn’t)

I also like the Hue app more for managing my lighting (they make it very easy to configure the dimmer switches)

That’s one of the reasons I use Z2M
