Running into the same issue on my new tablet with Android 16, 4 GB RAM, Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 and Homey Android app 13.4.0.
HikVision and Tapo cameras just show a black screen, with audio only.
It works on my other two Android tablets, which have the same amount of RAM but slower CPUs and GPUs and older versions of Android. It also works fine on my Pixel 7 and iPad Mini 6.
On the new tablet where it doesn’t work, I logged into Homey through Chrome and all cameras work perfectly, both video and audio.
And now the best part. I remembered I had an ancient Android tablet running Android 7.1.1 with only 2 GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 625. That thing takes about 5 minutes to boot, lags so badly it freezes for several seconds as soon as you touch anything, took 10 minutes to install Homey and another 5 minutes to open the Dashboards and…
Surprise! All my cameras stream perfectly inside Homey Dashboards on that thing.
I’ve already turned off all system restrictions for the Homey app, allowed it to run in the background, disabled battery optimisation, disabled pausing when not used, etc. Nothing helped.
I can’t blame the tablet either. Every other app works perfectly, including the native HikVision and Tapo apps, which stream the cameras without any issues. VLC has no issues with streaming directly via RTSP.
Judging by the comments here, I shouldn’t even bother opening a ticket as Athom seems to just close them without any reply or solution.
Highly disappointing, as I literally bought this tablet brand new to use as the central wall mounted Homey controller.
It’s obviously some kind of poor optimisation or compatibility issue on Athom’s side, where the app gets picky about who knows what, and they are taking their sweet time to fix it.
