So with the self hosted server option, i thought, yes! This is it.
So i went on getting it on my mini pc, and bought the bridge..
Then to my shock, this was still powered by micro usb … but that aside.
All installed, and began to add Zigbee devices. Up to around 5 devices all was still ok… but beyond that…. Got extremely lagging, and at 20 bulbs and plugs, it just stopped responding. Or with 30 seconds, 1 minute lag in executing.
And then at first start adding Router device’s (power plugs, dimmers with L(ast) an N(Neutral) on deference places in your house. (to build the Mesh network). Do this all on the definitive place not next to the bridge.
Then wait a night over, take a drink ect , and then the day after bring online all your dump device’s all so connect these all ready on the place where you want to place them.(a lot cheap zigbee devices or not got with “roaming” on the zigbee mesh.
I think it will work better on this way. to build the zigbee mesh bit stable.
May bee you reboot your Bridge once again and let run for while to get the build what you have again. But may bee its is better to remove all your device from SHS/Bridge and restart both again and start again and first all your Router devices (plugs at least).
If have done last week moved from H2016 to SHS with the Bridge
Hi,
Thanks for the advice.
The 20 devices, were mostly plugs and light bulbs,
Restarting the bridge and pc, didn’t work.
And I had the same idea, wait for a moment and the mesh network will be settled..
But the next day, using Alexa, I gave one simple command, turn on the light..
And it took almost 30 seconds to actually turn on.
Was really hoping it would be something simple that I did wrong.
But now I think it’s the old chip set that just isn’t capable enough to run as main Zigbee router.
Hi,
Didn’t know it’s the same chip set..
Already returned the bridge.
It’s based on Linux Ubuntu, intel N95, 16gb ram and HDD 500gb…
So that’s a little overkill I think.
At least capable of running the software..
The same mini pc running ha and sonoff dongle plus mg24, is running the same devices without any lag..
But unfortunately Homey only supports their bridge.. understandable.
But ha for me is too complicated.. didn’t get beyond light and switches…
Having solar panels, batteries, smart plugs,
Could be integrated in ha… but no clue how to.. so was really hoping this could work easy with Homey.
You dont need a bridge or anything really.. you can install Homey SHS as an add on in HA and use the Homey app Home Assistant Community to link devices from HA to SHS.. it’s how I run it.. HA is using Zigbee and Matter/Thread and its been very very solid.. just the automations are such a pain, much easier in Homey
