Zigbee limitations Homey SHS with homey bridge

I’m forced to transfer my home automation to a Homey SHS with bridge some earlier then I want, because of a zigbee malfunction on my Homey Pro (2019). Now I’m building up. It seems that i running agains some zigbee limitations issues, but don’t know if that’s the case. In the developers environment I also cannot see the Zigbee Routing anymore, and I cannot find anywhere if I have too many zigbee devices. Right now I have 19 devices (not knowing if it is connected directly to the homey bridge, or that it is meshing throug other zigbee devices). Is there some troubleshooting steps I can take?

No, Homey SHS does not support showing Zigbee routing anymore. The same goes with Homey Pro 2023 by the way.
If you want to see Zigbee routing you should switch to solutions like Zigbee2MQTT and a good Zigbee coordinator/gateway.

According to Athom itself, Homey Bridge can handle 15 directly connected devices and around 30-40 Zigbee devices in total. Although user have reported to connect more.

So with 19 Zigbee devices, you might be ok with a Bridge for now. Zigbee2MQTT in combination with a good Zigbee coordinator/gateway like the SM-Light SLZB-06 can handle much more though.

Hello Henk,

thanks for your info, I was searching if maybe the bridge for some reason needed to connect directly to all zigbee devices, but if reading the article, it should be that it works with routers, like before, Because I could not find that route table, I thought it would not Route anymore.

I got a house with multi floors (every floor 65 m2) and a garden at front and back , and I change all so from H2016 to SHS with a bridge (on the same place as the old one.

But I started at first to bring a lot off router (power plugs, and decent build in dimmer’s with Phase and nutral I think around 30-35) on lot off places in the house. When that was running (a night over) I started with reconnecting all other Zigbee’s on their old place (light, sensors ect a lot).

They all started direct with connecting and working again, and two dies (sad but that can be happens) and yes if you got a old 2016 Home they you could see the mapping but after a update not anymore.

I believe you must build a decend start mesh network with powerd device’s (routers) and if they ar stable you can build your zigbee network (mesh). But think connect the device (specialy the cheap one’s) on the place where they will used to you sigbee network. Because a lot off Zigbee device’s or not very got in remeshing (if you place them at connecting beside your homey (bridge) and then somewhere in or out off the house.

Just my Zigbee info build over the years 2016 till now)

The other way around is true as well.. recently moved all my devices to a different system and first moving all the powered zigbee devices, which instantly led to a full collapse of the older network

I was hoping that devices would stay working for a day in which everything would be moved, but nope. When you upset the mesh network the whole thing collapses until it figures out how to reroute everything again, which may take hours (if ever)
