For zigbee alone. These will repeat z wave/ ble and 433 should i use them. Ive pretty much stripped out Zwave now and dont intend to buy more plugs as repeaters.
I can probably send one back then
I think I have 14 hard wired double zigbee sockets spread over the 3 floors and a few plugs too. So mesh wise thats ok. Ill start with them before adding battery devices
Ok. No all just plugs and sockets - of which i can add more if needs
Will this be more stable? Or am i better swapping to the HP26?
I should have just modded my hp23
I love the simplicity of Homey but the ability to scale up SHS which is why i moved. The HP23 was sluggish and was st top end of memory use. Shs resolves that issue.
Yes the 26 has double the storage but its inevitable apps will get bigger and more devices and companies will become compatible.
Dashboards will use more widgets and before you know it the hp26 is in the same place as the hp23 so the SHS felt like the solution.
I did not know the bridge was so old. I assumed (first mistake) that as it looks like the hp23 its built the same.
Hopefully they will release a new bridge and or ways to better the shs. Until then ill have to see how i go and maybe have to get the 26 and split between both systems!
Hi thanks for the advice.
Dont know anything about Zigbe2Mqttt and Im not a fan of home assistant but ill take a look into it. I know its super powerful and flexible but its just not for me these days. Time is too short and i have lost the will to live with fiddling with HA.
Maybe ill look again but the thought of maintaining another system isnt best of fun.
SHS is a space between i feel. Space to play and adapt but simple.
Id much rather the HP26 and then run shs alongside with the LAN stuff and other non zigbee apps but i still fear that over time the 26 will soon fill up and slow down!
As far as I know you should only attach your zigbee devices to HA, share them with Homey using the community HA-app, and then use Homey as usual. You don’t have to do very much with Home assistant then.
So ive added all my zigbee sockets, no issues at all. All very responsive.
Ive added 2 bridges but im tempted to cut one out and send back 2 of them. Ive added a few extra sockets between rooms to help with hops and meshing so i think ill be ok.
If i remove a bridge, will the mesh self heal or do i need to reboot homey?
How do i change zigbee channel too so it has some separation from my smartthings
So far SHS is looking great. So much space and power for all the apps and devices i need and its rapid
Early days but its looking good
I have just re-did my Zigbee network after realising that the 2.4Ghz channel originally selected was saturated with other IOT WIFI devices. I moved to a higher channel that wasn’t congested and it made a huge difference. Interestingly when I reset my Zigbee network in Homey, it automatically selected the network I was planning to chose. Assume it must do a scan?
Thanks for confirming @Peter_Kawa . IMHO it is worth checking and analysing your network before giving up or re-pairing everything. I am fortunate to have Unifi platform which is excellent for analysis and granular control. I have limited auto-channel, but may revert, just happy to keep Homey Zigbee at 25 away from 1-6-11.
Happily reducing my 2.4Ghz footprint at home with more 5Ghz devices, although can’t get away from 2.4 with IOT. Also converted SONOSNET to WiFi during this refresh to also further free up channel interference issues. This was a huge improvement and also allowed me to uplift from S1 to S2 with equivalent performance. rant over
