Homey SHS or Pro Mini?

Hi all!

I currently use Homey Bridge that works pretty well but have some limitations. For instance no Matter support and limitations regarding number of Zigbee devices (approx 20). Also only official apps works. So I have been thinking about upgrading to SHS or Pro mini….. I know this is quite a big thing as all devices has to be re-paired and all flows has to be recreated. So I want to choose the right product.

Today I use apps like Shelly, Tapo, Aqara, Sonoff, WIZ, Telldus, Nexa, Trust smart home and Frient.

I have a Synology diskstation with 1GB memory (approx 55% free).. Would that be sufficient to run SHS with my Bridge as satelite for ZigBee, 433 and BLE? Will I still have the limit of Zigbee devices?

Or is it better to buy a Pro Mini that has support for both Matter and Thread (that SHS dont have) and ZigBee and use my Bridge just for 433 and BLE? Would this be a better solution for Zigbee as Pro Mini has a more powerful (newer) Zigbee chip compared to the elderer Bridge?

SHS has no support for Thread. Is that a dealbraker if I, for instanse, in the future would like to install Matter device from IKEA or any other brand?

A lot of questions but I am greatful for your support!

Regards
Johan

The Export function should work (click & hold flow name and press ALT to get additional menu options).
Exported flows can be imported the same way on other Homeys, but you’ll have to click on the folder name.

From what I know you’d first add all related apps & devices before you start importing flows, to prevent “i don’t know” pop ups

Yes. In theory it can handle up to 40 zigbee devices, first pair 15 router devices directly, then pair other devices (router or end devices) at their usual location.

Yes.
Also you’d know HSHS is aimed at “nerds”, or “geeks” if you will, you’ll need your skills and knowledge.

Pro Mini is easier to setup and use.
Mind the limited 1GB RAM though: this forces you to use more same app / same manufacturer devices in order to limit the number of different apps.
Although concerning zigbee, there’s more generic device type support lately (no need for apps). Also Matter doesn’t need apps in general.
→ 2GB of RAM is already too limited for some.

Advantage of HSHS here: there’s no RAM limit in theory (just depends on what’s available @ host).

It has, you only need an external Thread Border Router like some Google or Apple devices expose.

Ikea Matter devices seems not to live up to the quality their zigbee range has/had.
But maybe it’s the combination with Homey Pro (mini).
