Samsung Tv to SmartThings to Samsung TV - tv no longer works

Hi Homey experts

My issue:

  • I have The Frame Samsung tv which I had working fine using the Samsung TV app on Homey Pro.
  • I bought a fridge and added it to my mobile phone SmartThings app and decided to add the tv as well.
  • Homey Pro no longer controlled the tv but adding the SmartThings app on Homey Pro does control the tv!
  • Unfortunately, someone did a half baked job and only included basic controls on the SmartThings app, so I need to revert back to using Samsung TV app to get full functionality
  • I have deleted the tv from SmartThings (mobile) and on Homey, however the tv no longer is recognized by Homey when trying to add it as a Samsung TV device.

Homey support said to speak to Samsung support. Samsung support said to speak to Homey support.

Given the manufacturers have no idea how their systems work, I am hoping a community expert might shed some light on how to get my tv working again using the Samsung TV app?

Have you looked at the ‘Samsung Smart TV’ app? It has a lot more functionality than the official Samsung one.

I honestly had not seen that! It works (does everything) except turn the tv on. Wake on LAN etc are all enabled, so I have no idea what that doesn’t work. Thank you for pointing it out.

now that you mention it, that doesnt work for me either. I can turn the tv off using the Samsung Smart TV app, but not on (or at least not consistentley, it does sometimes work if i restet the app first).

Is your TV in the same room as your Homey? if so you could use the IR blaster for this, or otherwise can you still use the Smart Things app as the power-on for your tv, but the Samsung Smart TV app for everything else?

It might be some setting on the TV itself, often caused by too enthousiastic Energy saving settings.

You’d have it respond to network commands, and / or allow the TV “to be controlled by an app".

Dunno the exact commands.
