Hello,
I’m looking for some input/ ideas about using a presence sensor in combination with a heating system (from Tado).
Home presence itself is still done via Tad. But I have a home office from which the temperature should be controlled when nobody is in that room. The room starts to heat every business day, but that should be stopped when nobody is in the room (for example after 9AM) even when people are at home.
I was first thinking about using an IF the zone is not active since x minutes, but I guess that will never be triggered when nobody entered the room that day? So that would only work when I for example leave the room and the room is inactive for x minutes.
How to overcome this challenge to lower down the heating on a day nobody entered the room? Is the best option to start a flow during the morning once based on a time, check the set temperature and if the room is active, or is something more smart possible?
Thanks for your response!
Peter
When a flow starts the officeheating in the morning start a timer too.
When the office becomes active stop timer.
When timer ends stop officeheating
Thanks for your response.
Theating isn’t started by Homey.
Besides that I’m not following what you mean. When I enter the room, the timer stops and also the heating? The heating should stop when nobody is in the room.
There a difference between stopping a timer and a timer reaching zero.
Yes, but if you don’t re-enter the room after a set time (say three minutes) then the timer will finish and the heating off flow will be activated.
This is just the same way people have done flows for lighting using PIR before presence sensors became a thing.
I honestly think you’re being way too complicated with this
Just set the heating to go off when it hits a certain temp and back on again when it goes below a certain temp, with an AND condition that the heating only comes back on if the zone is active with presence.
You can check out the heating controller app.
It allows you to create schedules for workdays and non working days. You can set the time it starts pre heating, heating and stops heating. It also has a home override feature which you can enable/disable by a motion sensor. You can create multiple heating controllers. One for the house and one for the office.
